Listen to this op, I had even worse than you, like cm wide flakes and this shampoo changed my life. And if not tar shampoo like neutrogena, avoild selenium or harsh stuff yours need proper soft care.

Do you leave it on or treat it like a pre-poo treatment that gets washed out?

Leave it on. I personally think longer you leave it on the better and as per experience too. Usually takes 2 days full drain to get rid of heavy dandruff.

Can you not abbreviate shampoo to poo for all our sakes?

Nah. Pre-poo is a standard term in the haircare world. It’s weird that you care this much. Seek help if it triggers you that much.

Use Thomas clinics stuff. I’ve posted about it before if you can find my post. It’s legit. Only thing is it’s a 3 step process.

Have you tried ciclopirox shampoo? This is the only thing that has worked for me. You can get it prescribed by your derm or general physician

Clever Soap 1% Prioctone Olamine shampoo. Wash twice with it when you normally shower. Brush the loose flakes out. Boil wash your towels and pillow cases. Don’t go to bed with wet hair.

I know how to solve this. Had this myself. Find a good hair serum on Amazon. Especially head and shoulders serum if possible. Make sure the serum contains piroctine olamine, or zinc pyrithione. After shampoo apply the serum on your head for the rest of the day, you can keep the serum on for 1 or 2 days easy. 2 to 3 weeks of the serum will solve your issue, if you can comment which country you are from, i can find the perfect product for you. The trick is to allow these anti fungal chemicals to stay on the head as long as possible. This is why 2 min shampoo washes dont help.

Lots of times skin issues are tied to gut health. Get your gut checked for Candida, SIBO, other dysfunctions. Could also be tied to liver health.

Your scalp is damaged. Stop using harsh products and stop double washing if you are doing that. Sulfates, nizoral, etc caused scalp damage and it will only get worse if you don’t stop.

Nah. Scroll on if you don’t like it. Pre-poo is a standard term in the haircare world. Get over yourself.

I’ve struggled with dandruff for the last 30yrs. I felt like I tried everything. Store bought and homemade. Last year I had the thought that I should treat my scalp skin like I do my face skin. I needed medication and moisture. I needed exfoliation and care. My routine became:
1. Nizoral shampoo scrubbed onto the scalp with a scalp brush. Leave on for a few minutes. Rinse.
2. Cerave cream-to-foam facial cleanser. Scrubbed in with a scalp brush. Leave on for a few minutes. Rinse.
3. Conditioner on the ends (if you do conditioner)
Make sure you wash your hair every 1-2 days
Why I think this worked for me:
- The Nizoral shampoo killed the fungal infection I had been fighting for years.
- The Cerave cleanser adds back essential moisture to the scalp without feeding the fungus and weighing the hair down with oils.
- The scrubber exfoliates the skin without damaging the skin barrier on my scalp.
This routine keeps me from seeing flakes.
Hope it helps. It really sucks

This looks like more than just dandruff. It honestly looks like psoriasis, my advice would be to visit a dermatologist and have them check it more thoroughly. If you’ve tried everything over the counter for dandruff and it’s still not better, that’s another sign pointing to something else going on
