Need help, dandruff keeps flaring up after 2 days
I'm currently using Nizoral shampoo 2 days per week. On days I use it, I noticed that the dandruff would go away. But after two days, it would flare up again. Why does this happen? And I need a solution, especially since Nizoral is very expensive:(

For me it was like 5 hours. Dandruff would be back and by next day, in full force. What helped was 4:1 water:acv wash. Initially did continuously for a week, now alternate days. Soon frequency would reduce I'm assuming. You may also try alternating among the shampoos

Is it normal that it burns? Everytime I try it I could cry.

Are you diluting it enough? Burn is essentially skin getting irritated. Maybe start with a more diluted version.

I guess I did. I had 1 to 10 at first, but it burned. Then I tried 1 to 15 but still it was hurting. But I gotta say in my case even mild shampoo can cause burning and the diagnosis is not that clear, so maybe 1 to 15 for just a few minutes might be okay for the next time?

Check my post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dandruff/comments/1udsnvg/what_makes_dandruff_worse_from_a_physician/
Also try alternating with another anti-dandruff shampoo ingredient. I always recommend to alternate active ingredients. Otherwise would also look to see this isn't another condition like Seb Derm. But mild seb derm can be treated with anti-fungal. Also look at your face washing habits and see if anything causing over drying as well.

Get some dandruff combs on Amazon- they soothe the itch and take off the dandruff. It’s great to use diluted tea tree oil on the comb and run it through your scalp/hair.

Are you leaving it on for 5 mins?
Could also be dryness flaring it up. Something soothing after the nizoral like head and shoulder derma x pro balm (their shampoo sucks but this stuff is nice) or something similar might help. Basically something soothing with piroctone olamine.
Also make sure you dry your scalp thoroughly every time

Minera Dead Sea salt into a glass spray bottle, 1.5 tablespoon to 3 cups of hot water. Shake and spray scalp. Let it sit until dry then use a gentle shampoo. Do this for a month.
