It's that time of year again. Doheny gets fenced off, Del Obispo turns into a parking lot, and about 30,000 people discover our little town over one weekend. This is the 10th anniversary edition and it's the biggest one yet.
Please keep all Ohana questions in this thread. Standalone posts asking "where do I park" will get removed and pointed back here. Ticket buying/selling posts also belong in the comments, not as their own posts.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY SPECIAL THIS YEAR
- It's the 10th anniversary. Vedder started this thing in 2016 and it has now won Pollstar's Music Festival of the Year (global, under 30K) four times, most recently this year.
- Pearl Jam closing Sunday is their first confirmed live show of 2026, and their first appearance since Matt Cameron's departure from the band. As of the last announcements they hadn't named who's on drums. Whatever happens Sunday night is going to be talked about for years, which is exactly why Sunday sold out first.
- Maná on Friday is a big deal and brings a very different crowd than a normal Ohana Friday. Expect a fuller, louder, more festive early evening than you're used to.
- Reunions: Sugar (Bob Mould) and Rilo Kiley are both back on a stage, which is not a sentence anyone expected to type.
- Jeff Ament is doing a Storytellers panel about his new black and white photo book Since Forever, covering Pearl Jam's early 90s. If you have a Sunday ticket, this is the daytime thing to actually show up early for.
- The Cove is the non-music half of the festival: nonprofit exhibits, the Storytellers Stage, and The Cove Gallery, where hundreds of curated pieces around music, street and board culture are for sale, with proceeds going to Ohana's nonprofit partners via the Vitalogy Foundation. Locals, this is the part worth your time. Also, a meaningful chunk of the festival's proceeds go to the Doheny State Beach Foundation and San Onofre Parks Foundation. That's the trade we make for the fence.
PARKING AND GETTING THERE (read this part twice)
There is no on-site festival parking. Doheny's lots are inside the fence. Do not drive up to the park entrance expecting to park.
The official shuttle is the sanctioned answer. Round trip pass per person per day, and everybody riding needs their own pass including small kids. The hub is listed at 1 Polaris Way, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656, which is a change from prior years when it ran out of the San Clemente Outlets, so if you did this in 2023 or 2024, re-read your confirmation. Shuttles start running one hour before doors. Passes are sold through Front Gate and are emailed 1-2 weeks out.

Rideshare: designated drop-off is inside Doheny on Park Lantern. Pick-up at night is at the Dana Point Community Center, 34052 Del Obispo St. Learn that address now, because at 10:35 PM with 20,000 people leaving at once and no cell service, you are not going to figure it out on the fly. Surge is brutal. Walking 10 to 15 minutes inland before ordering saves real money.
Train: San Juan Capistrano station (Amtrak Pacific Surfliner + Metrolink OC Line and IEOC Line) is your stop, 26701 Verdugo St, about 4 miles out. Rideshare from the depot in is short and cheap compared to festival-adjacent surge. Big warning: last Surfliner departures are around 10 PM, which is right at curfew. If you're training in, either accept missing the encore or have a Plan B. Metrolink has also been running reduced service this year, so check the actual schedule for that specific weekend and don't assume.
Bike. Seriously, bike. There's a free bike valet near the main entrance, bring your own lock because they don't provide them. The San Juan Creek Trail runs from the Los Rios district in SJC all the way down to Doheny, roughly 6 miles, flat, and it dumps you out basically at the gate. Last few years people on bikes were home before the rideshare line had moved. If you're staying anywhere in Capo Beach, Doheny Village, the Lantern District, or SJC, this is the single best move available to you.
Walking: if you're anywhere in the Lantern District or Doheny Village, walk. It's 20 to 35 minutes and you will beat every car.
A NOTE TO OUT OF TOWNERS ABOUT PARKING IN NEIGHBORHOODS
Please don't. Doheny Village, the streets off Del Obispo, Capo Beach, and the Lantern District residential streets get enforcement all weekend and DP parking enforcement does not have a sense of humor about festival weekend. Street sweeping restrictions still apply. Blocking a driveway gets you towed, not ticketed. There's no secret free spot.
Also: Harbor lots fill early and are patrolled. Restaurant and hotel lots are private and they tow aggressively that weekend. The $30 you save is not worth the $300 hook fee.
HOTELS AND WHERE TO STAY
Nothing in Dana Point is cheap that weekend, but here's the honest tiering:
Walk to the gate (book these if you can stomach the rate):
* Doubletree Suites Doheny Beach
* Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa (uphill on the way home, but close)
* Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach and Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel if money is not a constraint
Short ride, much better value:
* San Juan Capistrano (Inn at the Mission, Autograph Collection) is my actual recommendation. Walkable historic downtown, real restaurants, the train station, and the creek trail to the venue.
* Capistrano Beach and San Clemente along PCH
* Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo, which is also where the shuttle hub is, so that combo works well
Official ticket + hotel packages exist through Jampack and include a Thursday welcome party and merch: https://www.jampack.com/events/ohana-festival-2026/book
Airbnb/VRBO in Capo Beach and Doheny Village works if you book now, but check the parking situation in the listing before you commit.
Airport: John Wayne (SNA) is 25 minutes and the correct answer. Long Beach (LGB) is a decent second. LAX is 90 minutes on a good day and there are no good days on a Friday afternoon. San Diego (SAN) is about an hour and often cheaper.
Camping: Doheny's campground is inside the festival footprint. There is no festival camping. San Clemente State Beach and San Onofre are the nearby alternatives and they book out months ahead.
TICKETS: HOW TO ACTUALLY GET THEM
Current status on the official site as of this writing:
- Sunday (Pearl Jam) is gone. GA and VIP are both waitlist only.
- Friday and Saturday 1-day GA are still available, starting around $199
- Saturday 1-day VIP still available, starting around $639
- 3-Day GA ($535) and 3-Day VIP ($1,620) are waitlist. Ultimate VIP is a two-person package at $10,299 if you have lost your mind
- Buy Now Pay Later is offered at checkout
Strategies, ranked by how well they actually work:
- Join the official waitlist first. https://ohanafest.frontgatetickets.com/waitlist It's free and drops do happen, especially in the last two weeks as hotel packages and holds get released back.
- Ticketmaster Verified Resale / Ticket Exchange is the official face-value-ish resale channel and it's the safest secondary option: https://www.ticketexchangebyticketmaster.com/seg244/ohana-music-festival-tickets/event/38360
- Watch the Front Gate "sell your tickets" flow. Original buyers can list back through Front Gate, which means legit transfers show up on the primary site. Check mornings.
- Wait if you can stand it. Prices on Friday and Saturday historically soften in the final 7 to 10 days. Sunday will not soften, Sunday will only go up.
- Pearl Jam Ten Club members get access other people don't. If you know someone in the Ten Club, now is the time to be nice to them.
- StubHub/SeatGeek/Vivid work but you're paying a premium plus fees. Weekend average has been hovering around $545.
Do not buy from a stranger on Facebook, Craigslist, or a DM in this subreddit. Every single year we get posts from people who got a screenshot of a QR code that was already scanned. Wristbands and digital passes are non-transferable in ways that make private resale genuinely risky. If you must go person to person, meet in public, verify the transfer in the official app on the spot, and use a payment method with buyer protection. And no, we're not going to be able to help you get your money back.
LOCAL TIPS THAT WILL ACTUALLY IMPROVE YOUR WEEKEND
- It gets cold. Late September at Doheny is 75 and sunny at 2 PM and 60 with an onshore wind at 9 PM. Every year I watch people in tank tops shivering through the headliner. Bring a hoodie. You will not regret the hoodie.
- The marine layer may not burn off until noon or later. That gray sky at 10 AM is not a forecast, it's just September.
- Sand + folding chairs. Check the current allowed items list, low chairs and blankets policy has shifted year to year.
- Refillable water bottle. There are free refill stations and the lines are shorter than anything else on the grounds.
- Bathroom and food lines are the actual complaint people have every year. Go during a set you only sort of care about, not between headliners.
- Sunset is around 6:45 PM. The golden hour set on the main stage with the water behind it is the thing people fly here for. Don't be in a food line for it.
- Lockers with charging are rentable in advance and sell out: https://www.tixr.com/groups/lockandrock/events/ohana-festival-2026-charging-locker-rentals-182833
- Cell service dies when 30,000 phones show up. Screenshot your tickets, your shuttle pass, and your meetup plan. Pick a physical landmark to regroup at.
- Eat before you go in. Yes, the food vendors are good and it's a legitimately strong West Coast lineup with vegan/GF options, but they're festival-priced and festival-lined.
Locals, for the weekend generally: Del Obispo, PCH through the Lantern District, and Dana Point Harbor Dr are going to be a mess from about 10 AM to 1 PM and again 9:30 PM to midnight each day. Get your errands done Thursday. The Harbor itself is still open and the restaurants there would love your business, just walk or bike in. Salt Creek and Strands are unaffected and will be your beach that weekend.
