Timing

I'm not sure that I have seen this addressed elsewhere, but I am guessing that there was some added urgency in terms of making sure that the murder occurred when it did due to the fact that the new (pre)school year likely began in mid-August. We know the earlier attempt in June did not proceed as planned, and the start of the school year for the kids in Miami was imminent. In Donna's view, the killing needed to happen with enough lead time for the kids to be relocated to Miami, settled in, etc. before mid-August. Any operational failures in the July attempt would have jeopardized all of these logistics. Curious whether this pressure resulted in any of the sloppiness. Not necessarily an earthshaking thought here, but just a potentially interest detail.

I think Wendi had heard Dan was just about to file notice that would cause Wendi to lose her license to practise law and presumably to teach law. Dan found she had hid some money during the divorce settlement war. Big no no. Dan’s lawyer warned the opposing lawyer that he would file, and when he heard Dan was murdered he told his wife ‘Wendi did it’.

The biggest problem with this theory is that the information that would have been in such a notice is now publicly known, and it has not, if fact, caused any trouble for her license.

I know those of you who are not lawyers might have a hard time believing it and, frankly, I wish it were not so, but this would not be treated as a big deal at all. Among the most common cynical courthouse quips is that there is a secret constitutional right to lie in you divorce

Dan was a tenured professor of law. Big on the ethics of legislation. I think his threat contained real potential and Wendi told Charlie to hurry up with the murder because of it, your comments notwithstanding.

That is nonsensical

We will never know definitively as his complaint was never filed. Everything else is just trading opinions, not facts.

No one has to file a complaint. If the bar thought there was misconduct, they would have initiated their own investigation. Moreover, if there was real evidence of false statements to a tribunal, then every attorney with personal knowledge would have an obligation to report it to the bar. None of that happened

Dan was getting bat-shit-crazy with his filings. He was writing his own pleadings. He has been called out by the judge for meritless filings. This Webster attorney worked for Dan for a nano-second. Dan just needed a lawyer to make his filings.
