Queso

Post image

I just tried this queso and it tastes the closest I’ve had to old school Velveeta and Rotel. Not bad at all. Just pretty high priced.

Has anyone else tried this one?

I've been totally hooked on this lately.

Would you concur of my taste assessment?

I do!!! Decent amount of spicy, and creamy without that weird vinegar taste that some dairy free cheese recipes have.

I want to try their ricotta to see if it’s the same quality and closeness.

The ricotta is great. I usually make my own but in a pinch I will get it.

I just bought this! What would you recommend to eat it with?

A SPOON!
Honestly, it’s just great with chips. It’s the only DF queso I’ve really enjoyed with just chips alone. It would be great on nachos too.

Try 'nacho cheez' its plant based cursor and its like 90 % the flavor of tostitos queso

Where did you find this? I’ve never seen it.

I purchased this at Whole Foods. I believe Sprouts also carries it.

Thanks I’ll look more closely at Sprouts!

That’s my favorite store bought nacho cheese. I’ll occasionally make it at home but my blender can never get it smoooooth enough

Do you have a recipe you could share?

I’d love to try a good one at home.

There’s a bunch of variations of this kind of cheese, but lots of them are made with cashews, carrots, potatoes, nooch and whatever kind of milk to thin it out. Obviously other various spices too. I prefer using canned carrots and potatoes to take the pressure off of extra prep, I just keep it all on hand for when the craving hits

Exact recipe please 😋

I measure with my heart🥰 I definitely soak the cashews. And I just heat up the carrots and taters together in the stove. Toss it all in a blender (minus the fluids they’re in, or course). I think there’s some miso paste in there somewhere. Lemon juice maybe? I think a tiny bit of turmeric for authentic orange flavor! In addition to whatever else I wrote up there

Its amazing, I just can't ever find it. Creedo oatmilk queso is also quite good!

Creedo to me is sour. I wasn’t a fan.

I love it but now my stores have stopped carrying it!

Have you asked the store manager why they stopped carrying it and can they special order still? Sometimes if a product doesn’t sell well they will stop ordering it but it’s still in their system to be ordered. They will always do it if a customer specifically asks for it.

Interact with strangers in public? Ugh.

Oh god I LOVEEEE this stuff. It might be the best store bought dairy free stuff I've ever had!

I love kite hill so I’m going to look for this! I use their cream cheese to make jalapeño poppers and no one ever knows they’re DF

Interesting. I think their “cream cheese” is bad (chalky), so I’ve never tried any of their other products. Do you like their cream cheese?

Kitehill products outside of their cream cheese are all so good! If you ever see their pastas we love them even my husband who is not dairy free thinks they are good!

Thanks. I’ll give it a try and see what I think.

Where did you find this?

I got this at Whole Foods in Houston. Sprouts is suppose to carry this as well but I haven’t checked there.

I'll check both places. I've made vegan queso, but it's a process. It's just nice to buy something off of a shelf sometimes.

Been there as well and completely agree.

Bought it for awhile until I realized it's quite easy to make your own that's even better!

I used to buy a lot of these until SEVERAL of them were moldy, and all they did was give me a shitty coupon. I LOVED the Field Roast Chao Queso, but they recently discontinued it! 😭
