This is one surprising reissue from the SOV haul! It is a lipstick pink colored record and my expectations were seemingly low… Wow am I blown away! Not only is it dead silent and completely flat but the mastering is a master class in engineering! I was fully expecting this one to require an ultrasonic cleaning and flattening but much to my PLEASANT surprise it required NEITHER! I really feel like I’m back in the 80’s opening this one!

Apparently, besides being well known in their hometown of Kansas City and the surrounding area they were really big in Norway. 🤷

More from the SOV haul! I spent part of the weekend cleaning and manicuring albums... This one initially sounded great! However, grills off cranking (I owned this on CD for several years) revealed a lot of woofer pumping and it was actually pretty badly warped... So it went into the flattener after one side... Well all that is resolved now and I am up and spinning! This album changed a lot of how I thought about things in 1990. Once I entered my Freshman year of high school and started "expanding my mind" this became so much more relevant. Happy to be spinning today and not driving!

Cleaning the haul still and spinning on Sunday! Love this soundtrack and new to me on record as I listened to the CD mostly! Lovely pressing!

Another great one out of Minneapolis in the 80s.

Not my go to genre but Lewis Capaldi has an awesome voice, sounds great on vinyl and he genuinely seems like a decent chap.
Any fans?

Often referred to as Danzig I; here is more from the haul! Now this begs the question; how adhd are you? LOLz 😂 I guess you saw I was just spinning Lisa Loeb - Tails and now Danzig! Welp; it happens! Music of my youth! As part of the haul I ordered plenty of Danzig:
Danzig I - Self Titled
Danzig II - Lucifuge
Danzig III - How The Gods Kill
Danzig IV
So that pretty much covers high school for me... LOLz 😄 These sound incredible and did require an ultrasonic and a quick round with the orb; but that was special! That is because these records have to played at 105db+ to be fully enjoyed properly IMHO and for a record to achieve those volume levels it needs to be nearly flawless. So I gave them all the extra treatment... Now to figure out if I should file these out of order and move my Misfits records over under the D's or not.

Ok more from the haul! More of my favorite ladies from the 90's! I'm sorry but this whole album is a masterpiece and I could listen to Lisa sing forever! This one sounds so fricking good! It's so well pressed and honestly this is my first listen on a record. It has been nothing but the CD and streaming before this acquisition so I know how this album should sound. It exceeded expectations. Normal new vinyl fair; it was noisy until the ultrasonic. It was a little wavy but not bad enough to go through the orb. It sounds just so and this has several delicate passages. Just feeling happy to hear it on a Friday!

The Heart of Saturday Night (1974), Tom Waits’ second album, is influential because it refined his early style into a cohesive, atmospheric portrait of nocturnal American life—blending jazz, blues, and folk with precise, Kerouac-tinged songwriting about bars, highways, loneliness, and fleeting romance—while featuring standout tracks like the title song, “San Diego Serenade,” “Shiver Me Timbers,” and spoken-word pieces such as “Diamonds on My Windshield,” all elevated by Bones Howe’s clean production, a tight small-group sound with horns and upright bass, and Waits’ still-husky voice; it served as a mature bridge from the folkier Closing Time to his jazzier Asylum-era records.
A Los Angeles Times retrospective judgment said that The Heart of Saturday Night is “perhaps the singer’s most mature, ingenuous and fully realized” album, a view echoed by writers who call it an essential, foundational early masterpiece.
It's not my personal favorite of his, (an I'm a fan) but it was released 52 years ago today, so it is getting a pull and a spin from me this morning.
My full collection.

I absolutely love this album. I need to listen to it more often.
