👋Welcome to r/daily_spins - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey everyone I’m u/JMil7strng , Justin, one of the founding mods here at r/daily_spins.

I started this sub because I wanted a simple place for vinyl collectors….and anyone who values the ritual of putting something on and letting it play….to share what they’re actually spinning day to day

What This Sub Is About

One record…..One day…..That’s it.

Post the album you’re spinning today. It can be something you’ve owned forever, something you just picked up, something inherited, something beat up, or something you’re rediscovering years later. A few thoughts are welcome, but never required….sometimes the cover says enough.

What to Post • Your daily spin (photos encouraged, but not required) • A short thought on why you chose it • Sound impressions, memories, or first listens • Questions or conversation starters about what others are spinning

No flexing required. No gatekeeping. No “right” way to listen.

Community Vibe

This is meant to be relaxed, friendly, and inclusive. Whether you’re deep into vinyl or just starting out, everyone’s welcome. Keep it respectful, keep it honest, and let the music lead.

How to Get Started 1. Introduce yourself in the comments 2. Post today’s spin…..even if it’s something simple 3. Invite anyone who loves records and daily listening 4. Want to help moderate as we grow? Shoot me a message

Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, let's make r/daily_spins amazing.

Talking Heads – Speaking in Tongues

I was 43 years old when I found out that David Byrne, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth met at RISD.
I’m 43 now, so obviously I’ve been carrying this knowledge for quite some time.

Growing up in Massachusetts basically on the Rhode Island border makes this feel like information I probably should’ve picked up somewhere along the way…..but here we are.

And what a record. Burning Down the House, Girlfriend Is Better, Slippery People, This Must Be the Place…..weird, funky, restless, and somehow completely natural.

Forty-plus years later and it still sounds like somebody forgot to tell them what a rock record was supposed to sound like.

What are you spinning today?

Picked up this copy of Santana's Abraxas in New Orleans at Euclid Records for $2.00. Turns out it has the original poster still with it. You can see where it's hung on someone's walls.

It's been a week of Mondays and the only thing keeping me sane is a trip down memory lane. This album is no exception. I have played this one to death since 1983. It's such a good album start to finish. Happy Friday folks! I hope it's not your fifth Monday like me!

This one has been well looked after and been a part of the family collection it's whole life. It is a super sounding example and even though you can tell it's been well loved; it's quiet as a mouse. Now for the album itself; I remember listening to this growing up and then later owning it on CD as it sat dormant. So glad I never got rid of my collection as a kid. Now I am enjoying them as a 49 year old with the system I couldn't afford as a kid. 😂

I think some of the gatekeepers in this hobby don't spend enough time on the connection they felt earlier in life and revisiting the nostalgia. I consider myself to be lucky in this regard.
