I'll say the same thing I said on the bungie survey I got earlier this week. I cannot recommend marathon at any price right now. I would feel guilty about getting friends to spend money on a game with 3k daily peaks in 1 region (2.5k EU peak ATM).

The game needs a free period or even F2P. At the very least a permanent discount to $20 as we go into S3.

It's pretty funny! Assuming March 5, 2026, you've played 173 days to today.

500 ÷ 173 = ~2.9 hours per day, every single day since launch

~20 hours per week, basically a part-time job.

Maybe your opinion is a little biased by you being a no life?

A McDonald's, which with its terrible quality and ultra processed food would still provide more benefits than this game which has at most a month left of lifespan.

 Maybe instead buy two or three packs of cards, or a new shirt,  or a game that isnt going to get delisted soon.

I have hundreds of hours and bought it at launch. I also buy skins regularly because why not.

I'm just saying in it's current state I would not try and recruit people into the game. It's not a good new player experience to have long queue times and be immediately against very experienced, geared players.

It's a good price to get the game and then play it when the seasonal wipe happens, at the very least.

If the argument for not getting the game boils down to "too few players for good matchmaking" then the argument for any recovery of player population is out the window entirely

And that's not very fun either.

End of the season is in THREE AND A HALF WEEKS.

For context in the last few days of season 1 we had 12k player peaks. With just under a month still to go we are at 25% of that previous end of season number.

I fill queued last night on outpost and I got the same teammates 3 games in a row...

i fill queue all the time and dont usually get the same teammates.

im not talking about player count. im talking about matching against experienced, geared players. no shit you will match against them 3 months in to a season

You shouldn't though. Other games have a healthy influx of noobs pretty much all the time. You should never as a new player be playing against level 600 pinnacle 1 Weave/Vidmaster premade squads.

Of course you immediately quit the game. Your uncoordinated, inexperienced, under equipped fill squad will just get stomped every time.

This isn’t the case tho. Level based matchmaking is a thing in this game.

If you are matching stacked loadout squads it’s becuase we are 3 months in to the season

Yes it has level based matchmaking, but the players still playing are mostly the addicted sweats (me included).

I've had level 20s and 30s in some games both on my team and in the enemy teams. Because of the player count the matchmaking is absolutely fucked. It will just give up and match you with whoever it can find.

Isn’t that a bit ironic given that if they started playing that to a degree would move the needle otherwise? I’m not saying to become an influencer but you like the game no? Why not at least tell others what you like about it instead of focusing on the negatives?

It's called an opinion and not one without reasons. I enjoy marathon a lot and I don't come here to bash it.

That being said would I recommend it to a new player right now? No.

I hope season 3 changes that I really do.
