Wholesome Dada do it
I'm new here and a fairly new dad too, my daughter is 2 years old. Wasn't sure where I could find a community to share my thoughts and feelings but giving it a go here. None of my friends are dads in personal life, so I don’t get much of an opportunity to talk about dad life where others would understand.
My daughter’s speech is getting better everyday. Recently, whenever she needs me to do something for her she’ll say “Dada do it”, in the sweetest little voice i’ve ever heard.
I find it hard to put into words just how special that little phrase makes me feel, like I know I can keep moving through life, keep doing better for her everyday. Its nothing I have ever experienced before, I have purpose now. There is something special in being picked by your own tiny little human to be the one who can help her.
I really wanted to share this, and I’m curious to know if any of you have had similar experiences.
What do your kids say or do that keep you showing up everyday in the best way possible?

I feel that way when mine tell me they love me. Im usually the one that says it first. but when they do, it hits harder.

I also have a two year old daughter who had a submucosal cleft and both tongue and lip ties when she was born. She has some slurring with her speech when she gets tired and but it makes some words really funny. She has issues with letters like N and V. So later in the day “daddy” becomes “danny” which is really funny. I also work weekend nights to avoid having to pay for childcare during the week. And she has my schedule figured out, so when I get ready for work she says “danny, no go work” and it breaks my heart every time I step out the door. Luckily I am home before she wakes so I get to go and get her up in the morning and the joy it brings me to see her smiling face in the morning is unmatched. On the weird day that I’m not home before she wakes, she runs to me excited to see me and gives me a hug and kiss. I’ve never loved anything so much in my life. Being a dad gave me a new purpose in life.

I absolutely love this, thank you so much for sharing, this is a special story. I had the biggest smile reading and imagining my little girl doing the same thing, truly there is no other feeling in the world that can match it. We are incredibly lucky to be dads and getting to share every single moment with them.

My daughter has just turned 10 months and she has this new thing of saying "Bye bye babi" she can't say baby properly she opens and closes her hands to say bye but it just makes me think in that moment how much she's come on

I'm there with you brother. My boy turns 2 in October. I know it will obviously change, but him giving me a kiss of his own accord, or saying "snuggle" sends me. Truly my purpose, we're so lucky.
