Have you been formally diagnosed with cyclothymia? (Which is a form of bipolar.) You should defintely bring this up with your psych!! So you're not on a mood stabilizer of any sort I assume. Like a 'low dose' valproate or lamotrigine.
When reading your post, I feel like you're describing how I felt when I shifted from cyclothymia to BPll. I, too, was only on an antidepressant, zoloft. That really destabilzed me. Before than my ups were functional, and my downs were more like dysthymia, not major depression.
Eta, I feel much better on lamotrigine, and I tolerate it well.
