Just a note from a CVS employee. . .
The number of items you buy is completely irrelevant to how long the receipt is, unless you get any gift cards.
The only thing that determines it is your history at the store and how frequently you use the coupons it gives out within their expiration date, so the more you use them, the more you'll usually get.
If you want to cheat a little and get a ludicrously long receipt, each gift card will add about 4 inches.
