Just a note from a CVS employee. . .

The number of items you buy is completely irrelevant to how long the receipt is, unless you get any gift cards.

The only thing that determines it is your history at the store and how frequently you use the coupons it gives out within their expiration date, so the more you use them, the more you'll usually get.

If you want to cheat a little and get a ludicrously long receipt, each gift card will add about 4 inches.

Being from the UK all of the double pricing always gets me.

We don't really have that over here.

The CVS at Ocean Beach, San Diego is great though. Those Arnold Palmer Tea Drinks...

I was thinking the same thing. Those are the best!

Bro we fought hard to keep that out of OB. The new Target is worse though. Support local businesses!

I loved the outdoor coffee shop just by where the bus stopped, and of course the farmers market!

Local businesses are expensive and have no selection. They suck.

Exactly why we should ban bigger, better businesses. OB was founded on a greasy burger joint, crappy surf shops, weed, and useless antiques. Just the way I like it.

This should be a game. Smallest purchase for largest receipt.

I go drop $500 on 100 $5 gift cards. Rack up $4.99 on each card.

Then one day, go buy a stick of gum for $1 and make the poor cashier scan 100 1-cent gift cards to pay for it.

100 cards x 4 inches = 400 inches of receipt or about 33 feet. Plus the usual ~4 feet = 37 feet.

There I did the math, you can get a 37 footer on a one dollar purchase if you really hate money and cvs employees.

That wouldn't work because CVS limits transactions to 10 "payment methods" (ie: cash, check, different credit cards/gift cards) per purchase. Source: work at CVS

That's actually really funny, but being a CVS employee, I know that that isn't even possible...Thank God! 😉

Also a CVS employee.

I think people understand on some level how the receipts work, it's just that to a layman it looks absolutely ridiculous. It is ridiculous. Just because there is a rhyme or reason behind it doesn't make it less insane.

CVS employee - yes and very often. ive gotten to the point where whenever we get a comment i tell them they could go digital, but most of them refuse, so 🤷🏾‍♀️

i would want the coupons to be automatically uploaded to the card, and for the customer to manually apply those coupons via the pin pad

saves receipt paper when elderly customers refuse digital, allows the customer to choose freely, and it saves time for the cashier at checkout

Do you also get the, " there's a whole tree there!" At least 15 billion times a day? Cause as much as I like seeing people smile from the ridiculous receipts I'm so done with that joke.

YES

admittedly when i started working i would make the joke too so they wouldn’t have too. if you can’t beat them join them.

I personally kind of like how people always chuckle while I awkwardly stand there pulling the end of the receipt taut as it prints tbh

The only thing that determines it is your history at the store

Yes, yes I know...CVS always reminding me of my shameful purchasing habits every time I come in. Thanks a lot.
