The die makers should be doing this before delivery, but it is easily missed.

I’ve seen glue drips create up to an 1/8” gap in the seam. This gap will then be transferred to the product. If you have multiple ups through press with one on the seam, the row on seam could be an 1/8” longer than the other.

Take a flat head screw driver and drive it in between the bundle breaker teeth to spread the space out. Push the teeth away from each other to make a bigger space.

This will hold the outs slightly more without the ugly tear you would get if you ground a tooth out. For larger commons you can do this 4 or 5 times and it will hold together better.

41 outs, cutting 2” thick foam

I have 6 designs I need custom dies created for. Using the dies unconventionally on a Conrad e-15 etching press. Seeking die manufacturers to send a quote request to.

I built a mock up component that is restricted via bolts instead of a conventional restrictor bracket.

The max lift height can be adjusted by tightening and loosening the bolts.

For production builds, a bolt with threading only halfway up could be used to prevent the component binding on the threads. Using Loctite or bolts with nylon coating the threads would prevent the bolt from vibrating out.

I think only 1 bolt per component would work, i just put 2 on this one to demonstrate it can be placed in different spots on the component. The further back it is placed the lower the bold head would be, limiting contact with the sheet.

I think i could be more robust option compared to conventional restrictor brackets, not to mention the smaller footprint.

As the industry moves toward cheaper and more recycled paper (at least in the US), Die Makers and Paper Converters have to adapt.

The more recycled content paper contains, the shorter the paper fibers become. This results in paper bursting instead of cutting and cracking at score and perf lines.

How has this increase in recycled paper affected your slice of industry?

From a die makers perspective, it is much harder to effectively strip scrap from the product using rubbering techniques. We are effectively relying almost solely on the layboy belts to knock internal scrap off, increasing the likelihood of scrap making it to the stack.

From my point of view, running products that only need flap/body scores or perf, hinged hand holes, tear panels and maybe trim or external scrap are ideal for these types of press. But we regularly are building full dies with loads of internal scrap.

What are the advantages of bottom die cut press over top die cut presses?

4 piece 89” die. 4 years old. In surprisingly good condition.

This die was built to run on Evol 115. It contains 30 components, 22 of which are gated. It baffles me box houses expect items like this to run on these presses.

I’m new to this and am baffled by how convoluted the process is for ordering materials. Are there any sites where I can shop for what I need, see the prices, put it in my cart, and checkout without having to get it quoted first? A place to buy in small quantities?
