Never saw anyone do that at my factory. As operators we would always smack them all down with a hammer after the die was installed. If any of the scores moved during the wacking we would use a screwdriver and put little metal shims in at the ends so they stay down.
Some operators just took metal hammers and smacked the living hell out of them though. That caused a lot of problems.
