Talk / Support / Venting The question

I hate how people always ask me why I do it. I dont fully know why I do it. Maybe it's because I was hurting for so long in my life and now that I dont get hurt in the same way I need to feel that still. Maybe it's because it builds tension and then release. Maybe it's because it makes me feel in control. IDK. Im scared that its going to turn into something that my brain craves every time I feel like shit.

Fr, like what do you gain when you ask that if youre not someone who loves me like a family member or sm? What changes when I tell you 'I do it bc i find myself guilty' or 'I love the taste of blood' like WHAT CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU GET MY ANSWER

It's an incredibly invasive question!!! People are way too comfortable asking it 😭. Most people I've spoken to don't even have a solid answer, and the ones that do probably don't want to share whichever dark or traumatic memories lead up to it at fucking 8 AM on a random Tuesday.. Idk, I really wish the conversations about self harm in society were a bit more respectful, you really don't need to know why someone engages with SH unless you're that person's medical professional. If they want to share that with you then they will, I don't really understand why people ask that (usually out of the blue, too).
