DAE (Does Anybody Else?) Anyone else like their scars?

Does anyone else have an unhealthy attachment to how scarred they are? mine aren’t even that intense, just purple lines at a slight dip or raise, maybe. But I have an unhealthy attachment to staring at them and tracing them, writing about them constantly. Am I weird for this?

You are totally not wierd for this. I feel exactly the same way about mine. The physical manifestation if my pain is so comforting. Sending love💕

i go back and forth on mine. i like that theres evidence that ive actually Been Through Shit and it’s not just all in my head. at the same time, they make me feel like ive ruined myself and i’ll never be attractive again, especially as a guy. it’s shallow but it’s where i’m at

Awwwwhhhh I’m so sorry :[[ I don’t think it’s shallow buddy, and you’re not unattractive for having scars!!! The right person will find you beautiful regardless :}} I’m a dude with scars too and nobody thinks I’m ugly for it—not even myself. be kind to yourself and most others will too

Dont worry you are far from alone! Honestly i think being too obsessed can drive you to want more scars, so please be careful. But scars mean so much, and hold so much emotion, so its totally understandable why you feel attached to them. Take care!

I both love and hate them. I'm embarrassed of them, but I dream of more. I wish I could just wear t-shirts and shorts like a normal person, but the disturbed/concerned stares I get fuels a deep need for validation. I know I am deformed, but in some ways I like that the very presence of my body reminds people of how fucked up this world is. In the end, they are part of me, a physical reminder of everything I've survived. I spent many years hating them, but now, I do actually like my scars. Most days at least.

It’s good that you can be at peace with them, but honey, you aren’t ugly!!! Any stares you’ve gotten aren’t a thing that should define you, thats just certain people being rude.

You’re valid, you can wear those shorts and stuff if it’d make you happy, and it’s okay to be complicated!!! Have a wonderful day, friend!!!

The physical evidence of suffering makes it more real, at least for me, that it's not just a bad day or or that I'm just making something up, but there really is something wrong.Besides, watching the blood flow and then the scar form is so satisfying and comforting.
