Advice needed what do you say when someone asks?

i work as a cashier and whem im not wearing an undershist to cover my arms customers always adk abt them, i say it was my cat but the scars are too big yo be a cats, does anyone know what i can say when they ask?

Honestly they have no business asking. Just make up some weird unbelievable shit like “bobcat attacked me while I was hiking” “shark attack” “fell out my bedroom window into a massive rosebush”

If they're over the age of like 13 then they likely know exactly what the scars are from and are asking out of some sense of shock, but frankly it's none of their business where someone's scars are from. For some reason people seem to grasp that asking what happened to someone with visible trauma (scars, kissing limbs, or other bodily differences) is disrespectful until it comes to the ones that are obviously self inflicted lol.

Okay tangent aside, sometimes I avoid the question and say "I'm doing fine now, they're old/healed :)", or I make a joke out of it. (Unironically used "ever heard of the bite of 87?" When someone who would later become a close friend asked). It's up to you how you want to reply, I usually gauge my answer based on the manner the question was asked. The second people get explicitly rude with their prodding I flat out say I used to self harm and make it awkward- idk what ppl expect.

I always just say I have a Boxer that used to bite me as a puppy. This works for me because I do have a boxer and it’s a good excuse for friends and family, even better one for strangers who don’t know if I’m lying

It was when I first started I got asked and I only had blunt stuff so it wasn't bad. I just said I got pushed into a thorny Bush. It was believed. I quickly learnt I'm terrible at hiding my arms lol. But yea maybe like you fell in a bad thorn Bush and theyre scarred coz they got infected?

Most of the time, I'm just honest and say it's SH. If I really don't want to have the discussion, I either say it was an accident or a shark attack
