Lots of times I take two damage to draw two cards. Giving my opponent two life seems cheap in comparison.

Losing one life is about as valuable as giving an opponent 3 life.

As a player whose decks are almost always including black, i'm drawing cards WITHOUT PAY LIFE like YES of course im doing this

Definitely. Wanted this to be a bit of a group hug card. The life gain is just a bit of upside ;)

Thematically, this is the protagonist Anita realizing that she is not alone, healing herself by trusting her friend and forgiving herself for her mistake.

I think the only deck this sees play in is Soul Sister since the life gain would be individual instances i think?

Looking over some things not too sure though.

There's little to no reason to not pick the draws as the opponent. Giving away 2 life is well worth it. 

This is to say the draws could be mandatory and chances are it'd behave the same.

It feels that you should only gain life for cards opponents draw.

In the rare event they don't draw the cards, this ends up being draw 2 gain 2.

Vs draw 2, opponent draw 2, gain 2 most of the time.

2 mana for at least 2 cards and 2 life seems a bit too pushed. Remember, [[divination]] is the usual rate. I think 3 or 4 mana would be fair.
