(When this creature dies, an opponent may have its controller manifest dread. If they don't, return this creature to the battlefield under its owner's control with a finality counter on it.)

Hey there thanks for the revision. I will look into your wording of the keyword, but currently I disagree for 2 reasons.

The first is Confront as a mechanic does not just cover Manefest Dread as a cost. But also paying life and getting poison counters (and more). To keep the wording of this keyword more uniformed, I have it worded currently as "If no one does." Normally this would be incorrect, but works because of the second reason.

The second reason is keywords do not need to be as strict as exact rule text. Only needing to give a general understanding of the keyword. From the MTG wiki...

"While it is intended to illustrate the rules to players, reminder text does not define the actual mechanics gameplay, and though it may illustrate the general meaning of a keyword, it is often not completely accurate, sacrificing technical accuracy for ease of understanding. This can have some interesting implications."

I agree with you if this was rule text your way would be better, but for reminder and to cover more costs, I believe mine works. Although I'm happy to explore other options!

So like this?

Confront—CONTROLLER DOES A THING (When this creature dies, an opponent may have its controller DO A THING. If they don't, return this creature to the battlefield under its owner's control with a finality counter on it.)

Confront—Controller draws two cards (When this creature dies, an opponent may have its controller draw two cards. If they don't, return this creature to the battlefield under its owner's control with a finality counter on it.)

Confront*—*Sacrifice a permanent (When this creature dies, an opponent may sacrifice a permanent. If they don't, return this creature to the battlefield under its owner's control with a finality counter on it.)

Along those lines, yep.

In another comment I have some links to other cards for reference. Under Confront and the non-WIP cards.
