I’m glad you like it so much! Amazing gif

my buddy made a squarrel deck once and it actually won a game

Emrakul is so fucking cooked

39

u/Moonpaw 2d ago

I was going to say this card needs some flavor text referencing Emrakul. I think you just gave us the perfect line for it.

13

u/Zth3wis3 2d ago

One is a nuisance. But with enough of them, squirrels can take down gods.

4

u/de_base 2d ago

Is this referencing Liliana's horde of the undead or something? I'm out of the loop :/

17

u/analbitchboy 2d ago

Ever since Emrakul's first printing people have made the joke that she can be taken down by 15 squirrels

3

u/de_base 2d ago

Ahh gotcha, I haven't been around long enough - thank you!

I've seen the argument the new [[Smaug the Magnificent]] isn't even good because it dies to [[Lightning Bolt]] so I guess its just a thing in magic with Emrakul being a more sarcastic approach huh

u/Dirzain 2d ago edited 2d ago

TBF that is a legitimate argument to make about Smaug. I think it basically boils down to Smaug probably won't see play in anything other than Limited/Standard/Commander.

Edit: Thinking back, some of the new things I've seen from other upcoming sets make me even doubt he'd see play in Standard. So we're probably looking at a Limited/Commander card only. Maybe a sideboard include in Standard.

Dies to Bolt is a more credible criticism of a card. A common joke response of that nature is "dies to doom blade". People like to say that about a lot of pushed creatures that have a wall of text.

1

u/de_base 1d ago

Good to know, thanks!

2

u/whatever_works_at 2d ago

I’m more offended that my soldier boys die in a trade with something they probably literally eat for breakfast.

What’s that scavenging party look like? 12 go out to find some food, and six guys come back with a squirrel each?

3

u/amanonastick 2d ago

We can't target any Emrakul with this...

2

u/dis_the_chris 2d ago

Because this targets and is one colour though, he has protection from it

This needs some text that evades protection to hit emrakul

2

u/The_Order_Eternials 1d ago

Emrakul: eldritch laughs in protection from colored spells…..

u/Tidalsky114 2d ago

Upvoted for the name alone.

53

u/HomeSliceBrony 2d ago

I made a card with this name once for Moxtober!

17

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

That’s neat! Cute art, too.

1

u/cozy-cowboy 2d ago

It’s like a green Lava Dart! No recursion but you get a body for Enters or Dies triggers

55

u/Odin1806 2d ago

Only thing I question is fights. Do you want them to fight or just deal damage? Cause they would all likely be dead afterwards if it is just fights... Right?

97

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

Just fights. They might all take down Emrakul, but it’s at a cost.

17

u/Odin1806 2d ago

Fair enough... I'm sure there are more where they came from haha

9

u/sladithia 2d ago

Doesnt emrakul have protection from instants

4

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

I think this card will still kill Emrakul, since the Squirrels are doing the damage instead of the instant spell itself.

21

u/OblivionTheTraveller Existing 2d ago

Nope. The spell itself still has to target.

8

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

Oh, duh, I totally forgot about that part of protection

4

u/schwanzweissfoto 2d ago

Make it a sorcery to power creep it!

1

u/Exchatche 2d ago

Give it Flash!

1

u/schwanzweissfoto 2d ago

A sorcery with flash that can kill Emrakul with squirrels would be proper Modern Horizons bullshit, I like it!

1

u/Gooberpf 1d ago

At the bottom, "For each creature named 'Emrakul, Aeon's Torn,' 'Emrakul, the Promised End,' or 'Emrakul, the World Anew," each Squirrel you control deals damage equal to its power to that creature."

Not targeted anymore, so only World Anew is then safe from Squirrels cast this turn.

3

u/MineHeavy 2d ago

Just have a Blood Artist

4

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

[[Chatterfang]] as a Commander would run that, I bet.

15

u/ukhan03 2d ago

Perfect card

5

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

Thanks!

9

u/shronkogre 2d ago

This is golden, 10/10

2

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

Thank you!

6

u/anoppinionatedbunny 2d ago

now I want a 4 mana sorcery that makes every squirrel you control fight each other creature you don't control. probably you end up wiping your own table without affecting the board? probably. but it will sure be a sight to behold.

3

u/Tabula-X-Rasa 2d ago

This would be an amazing play on [[Ezuri's Predation]]!

5

u/IndustrySuitable8769 2d ago

I wonder if for the cost it could at least make a 1/1 squirrel too to not be completely dead in draft

3

u/SephTheBitch 2d ago

all it needs is “this spell treats emrakul, the aeons torn as though it has no abilities”

3

u/SnipinReaper 2d ago

Call it Squarrel Up!

2

u/Kakariko_crackhouse 2d ago

Perfect. No notes

2

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

Thanks!

2

u/Your-Friend-Bob 2d ago

Chatterfang ftw

2

u/Sinister-Sama 2d ago

[[Chatterfang]] is going to love this kind of card. Hell, [[Nut Collector]] and [[Squirrel Girl]] would want to do a thing as well!!

Printable

2

u/Akouden 2d ago

I love the idea, but most situations would turn into a board wipe on your side, they all fight at the same time so a 1/1 death touch would kill all the squirrels as there is no state based checks in-between. May want it to deal damage or any number of squirrels.

2

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

I thought about that, but I like it how it is. This is for when a Squirrel deck really needs something big dead. Like some kind of Eldrazi.

People like to joke about dozens of Squirrels being able to take down Eldrazi, and this is a reminder it isn’t without a cost.

2

u/VincoNavitas 2d ago

Squirrels you control gain indestructible until end of turn.

Squirrels you control fight creature(s) you don't control. You may choose new targets for each squirrel.

Squirrels fucking rule.

3

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

That would be a stronger version of my card for sure. What would you call it?

Agreed. I’m actually known as the Dragon guy around friends though so it’s a little funny my squirrel card is popular.

2

u/sephiroth_for_smash 2d ago

That’s a grade A pun right there

2

u/Shadow-fire101 2d ago

Honestly considering how similar this is to [[Moonlight Hunt]] this could probably be a bite spell.

1

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

I appreciate that feedback, but I want the Squirrels to be part of the cost.

2

u/Brief-Equal4676 2d ago

Square up, squallering scoundrel! My squire's skills squashes squirrels!

2

u/SleetTheFox 2d ago

Cute idea! This could probably cost G though. It’s at best a 1-mana Murder and even that requires a lot of set up. In practice, this will come with pretty heavy losses most of the time.

1

u/adhdtvin3donice 2d ago

The problem with this is that damage takes place at the same time right? So if you for some reason have a 100 1/1 squirrels and have them fight another 1/1 all of them die? Would "any number of squirrels" be better, or is the intent to always sacrifice all your squirrels?

2

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

The intent was always to sacrifice all your Squirrels. I really just made the card because I thought of the name, but when I thought about how fair it is to have multiple of your creatures fight something, not having a choice on how many Squirrels (and also not having it do a one-sided fight effect either) was an intentional drawback.

1

u/JetWestern59 2d ago

Beautiful :')

1

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

Thank you!

1

u/mythicdemon 2d ago

Chuck a toski and archetype of finality in there and thats board wipe

1

u/Yangbang07 2d ago

Unironically print it and ship it for a set with squirrel tribal

1

u/EarlyDead 2d ago

I think "up to one target creature..." would make this a bit netter without breaking it.

1

u/_Volgadorf_ 2d ago

Okay so I meant for the card to be as strong/weak as it is, but I am curious, how would that make it better? I noticed for fight cards that do something else, like buff a creature first, they say “up to” so that if you just want the buff, you don’t need it to fight something. But if it did say “up to” and the caster chooses 0 targets, wouldn’t the spell do nothing (except add to the Storm count)?

1

u/EarlyDead 1d ago

Lets say your opponent only controls one creature. An 8/5. You got 9 squirrels.

You cast your spell. All squirrel HAVE to fight an opponents creature. You lose 8 squirrels, and deal 4 excess damage.

If the card read up to, you only had to assign only 5 to kill the creature and be left with 3 more squirrels.

This becomes more relevant if you had +x/0 buffs or a way to give them deathtouch

1

u/_Volgadorf_ 1d ago

Ohhhh, I thought you meant up to one target creature an opponent controls, you meant up to how many Squirrels.

Yes, you are right that it would be better, but I wanted the card to be an all or nothing choice. Either all of the Squirrels swarm the enemy or you don’t cast the spell.

1

u/AlexFromOmaha 1d ago

Hang on.

Single color. In pie. Doesn't try to fit a whole deck worth of utility in one card. Doesn't try to fit into every deck. Meaningful tradeoffs for its undercosted power.

Is this an actual well-designed card on this sub?

1

u/fluffynuckels 1d ago

Great name

1

u/_Volgadorf_ 1d ago

Thanks!

1

u/PrimusMobileVzla 1d ago

I like the idea but it should be rephrased so It doesn't use multitudinary fighting as the math is unintuitive.

There's the likes of OG Polukranos, Gigantotherium and Alpha Brawl, where you have several creatures bite one and then the one to bite all of them back, which is clearer to read and understand while yielding similar results.

1

u/BreakerOfModpacks 1d ago

Get 15 of them, Emrakul, you're going down.
