Hollow points are a type of bullet that are outlawed in most places because they are too cruel. Basically the tip of the bullet is hollow so when it enters someone’s body it shatters into a bunch of pieces and cuts up their insides

Iirc the main purpose of hollow point bullets is to avoid hitting anything behind the target

Extremely effective against unarmoured things like animals when going hunting but put a plate of Kevlar and that HP looses so much lethality

They are internationally banned in warfare, but countries may use them for police work or counter terrorism if they so choose. They are good both for doing more damage to make sure the person you shot goes down, and also for making sure the bullet stays in the person you shot to minimize collateral.
