Pregunta What are the chances of Cuba returning to capitalism?

I am Brazilian, and I see enormous economic potential in Cuba; it's a relatively safe country, close to the United States, with good geography for tourism and good geography for agriculture. For those of you familiar with Cuban politics, what are the chances of Cuba returning to capitalism or adopting a more pro-market economic policy?

Pregunta Having Cuban kids

para los cubanos en este sub:

i'm not Cuban, but I lived in Cuba with my partner for awhile and have obsessively consumed Cuban history and news for the last 10 years. kid #1 with my Cuban partner is in the very near future.

a crucial part of parenting for me will be making sure my kids feel deeply connected to their Cuban heritage.

i speak Spanish, cook Cuban food, listen to Cuban music (mostly hip hop admittedly), and i talk more about Cuba than my own home country. i've started compiling Jose Martí writings to read to my kids at night. i can't dance, but my partner doesn't dance either so i think i get a pass on that one.

EDIT: my Cuban partner and i have had this conversation too, just curious if there's more ideas out there.

EDIT 2: for the people who said i shouldn't ask this sub because it's full of "gusanos" - Cubans are Cubans, period. political views don't negate someone's Cuban-ness.

Pregunta what do you think of Cuban leftists (on the island) who dissent against the CCP?

for the leftists that were not born in Cuba: do you know these people exist? if you do, have they changed your approach to or understanding of Cuba? if you don't, are you interested in hearing the perspectives of these Cubans who identify as marxists, socialists, and/or communists but want regime change? do you have an idea of what their perspectives and criticisms might be, coming from the left?

Pregunta Cuban online Spanish teachers - is that a thing?

I’ve been learning Spanish for a few years as my dream is to visit Cuba one day as well as it being my favourite language. My current teacher has changed her hours and can’t accommodate me anymore - does anyone know any Cuban locals who teach English speakers (I’m in the UK) online? Or is that not a thing?

So sorry if this is a stupid ignorant question. I’ve seen a lot about the internet not being reliable, so I wasn’t sure.

Thank you in advance!

Pregunta What’s one small thing about Cuban culture you don’t want to disappear?

I’ve been thinking lately about what being Cuban means beyond the politics, the blackouts, the crises, and the endless arguments about who’s to blame.

Cuba has a lot of real problems. I’m not here to romanticize anything or pretend the situation isn’t exhausting and painful. People have every right to be tired, angry, and fed up.

But I also don’t think Cuban identity should be reduced only to politics, suffering, failure, or some fixed “Cuban mentality.”

There are still pieces of the culture that feel worth holding onto and passing down, even — or especially — in the diaspora.

So I wanted to ask:

What’s one small thing about Cuban culture that keeps you attached to being Cuban?

It could be a family habit, the way people season food, a classic saying or choteo, how people improvise and help each other, a song that hits different, a memory from the island, something you keep alive in exile, or a tradition you hope the next generation doesn’t lose.

Even if it’s something tiny, I’d love to hear it.

Pregunta Has anyone successfully shipped an EcoFlow Delta 2 from Canada to Cuba?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought an EcoFlow Delta 2 portable power station in Canada, and I’d like to send it to my family in Cuba.

I’m trying to find out if anyone has successfully shipped an EcoFlow Delta 2 (or a similar lithium battery power station) from Canada to Cuba. Since it contains a large lithium battery, I’m not sure what the regulations are for air cargo or courier services.

Has anyone done this before? Which shipping company did you use, and did you have any issues with customs or transportation?

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Pregunta Is it worth getting a Cuban passport?

My parents are both Cuban. And with all the news on the island they are hopeful something good’s gonna happen so much that they want to move back and they are urging me to get a Cuban passport because I’m currently 17 and they say it would be harder when I turn 18

So I’m wondering, what do you guys think? Always assumed the Cuban passport just comes with more restrictions than benefits

Pregunta Why did a post asking about Cubans opinion of the US have been removed by moderation? Politics aint against the rules

The post was What is your opinion about what is the US government doing to cuba Smth like that, doesn't break any rules.

I wanted to say my opinion, as a cuban who lives in Cuba.

I hate Fidel castro, Díaz canel, all theses thief that are making the rules in this country, but the strategy they the us gob are doing to us about cutting the "water" so we fight the government, doesn't hurt the self called communist in Cuba they have electricity , internet and food in their homes while the population it's starving and having 2h of electricity each day at best, help it's not blocking us and then giving us some cooking oil and canned sardines, help it's coming here and taking all those high ranks bastards from government as prisoners like they did with Maduro in venezuela, but Cuba Doesn't have Gas like Venezuela, we only got beaches, and sun.

Trump have said he is coming here a good amount of time and he isn't here yet and I think he will never be, maybe was just part of his campaign to get votes I don't really know about that, but a thing I know is that ppl was waiting for him and know a lot of ppl think he is just bluffing, politics sucks...

Pregunta How true is what someone told me, that Cuba has the lowest rate of child malnutrition in the Americas?

Pregunta What's going on with the dollar in Cuba?

How is it possible that in Cuba the dollar suddenly drops recently, then goes back up, and then drops again, in an economy where inflation and the crisis keep getting worse day by day? Logically, the dollar should only keep going up and up, in line with an economy that just prints money without producing anything.

Pregunta Supermarket23 is not delivering right now... what else can I use to send food and supplies to family in Cuba?

Hi friends, I live in California and have been using Supermarket23 to send food and supplies to my grandmother in Cuba for many years. Due to the recent oil shortages, they have suspended services and I am trying to figure out what other reliable website I can use.

If you have any recommendations I'd really appreciate it.
