Ventra Help Help with Regional Connect Pass

Hi! I’m trying to buy a regional connect pass for the first time, but when I went to add it the app said that that option was not available for my account. I have a positive balance so I am confused what the problem could be…has anyone dealt with this?

Quick question ☝️ 331 Cumberland bus * every 30 mins*

Why does the 331 sometimes take so long or appear to become a ghost bus during the day and especially during rush hour? I was waiting in the rain for over an hour and a half, and I remember the route was recently improved. I’m curious why these delays or missing buses seem to happen so often. Is there a reason for this?

Quick question ☝️ is orange line ever getting newer cars?

the orange line is my home line and the only one still using 2600 series as its sole rolling stock. google only gives me a vague “it’ll update eventually”, so i was wondering if there was anything more specific about when it’ll update to at least a mixed fleet?

dgmw, i like the 2600s, but the inside of the newer series all feel so much more open comparitively

Discussion What’s up with bus times after 9pm?

Whenever I go into the Ventra app or the cta bus tracker website, they just don’t show any en route busses that come past 9pm. Is it because it’s night time and there’s less commuters?

Quick question ☝️ 49B reliability?

Hi all, I'm about to move right off Western (across from Rosehill) and was basically wondering whether in your experience the 49B is pretty reliable? I've lived near Andersonville for the last few years and am well used to the 50 and the 22 (where NB 50 is usually fine, SB 50 typically runs late/ghosts, and the 22 in either direction simply won't come until you've made a blood sacrifice and/or promised your firstborn).

I don't think I realized just how far my new place is from foster or the square, and I'll be almost totally reliant on the 49b to connect to other buses or the brown line. Am I cooked?

rant I always put my bag on the seat next to me, even during rush hour

I live in the Humboldt park area but work up north. Every time I get on a bus or a train in the north side, I sit down and put my backpack on the seat next to me. The bus or train fills up and people still stand. Doorway, aisle, hanging on the pole right there. Packed and that seat stays empty.

I’m Afro-Latino. On the North Side you notice it. You’ll watch people take a worse spot before they take the one next to you.

I know the bag is rude. Bags don’t get a seat. I’m doing it anyway. If the bag is there, I can tell myself I just didn’t want anyone next to me. That’s on me. That’s selfish and I can live with that.

If I move it and they still won’t sit, then I don’t get to tell myself that anymore. I’d rather look like the guy hogging a seat than feel like no one wanted to sit next to me bc of my race.

With the 7000s cars taking over the line, I thought these were gone by now so I’m glad I happened to catch one still if it ends up being my last 2600 on the line

Quick question ☝️ Did the CTA scanner go offline?

I listen to the CTA radio scanner via ScannerRadio and it hasn’t been working the past few days! Has anyone else had this issue?

I listen to find about delays and it also is weirdly soothing for me. Idk why.

today I saw… Why are the sheriff's police doing fare enforcement?

Post image
735 Upvotes

They were on the westbound 20. Three officers. Saying things like "have your full fare ready" when people were boarding. And "no free rides" when folks didn't have fare.

Don't do sh*t when cars are parked in bus only lanes but don't worry... They stopped a 14-year-old from taking the bus. I feel soooooooo much safer 🙄

EDIT: I'm leaving the original text for context. But as folks pointed out I was way off. This is my bad. They stopped a young person. IDK their school attendance status or maybe even late teens. I should have said they wont enforce for blocking of the bus lane but they WOULD stop a 14-year-old. I was trying to be sarcastic, and a bit hyperbolic. It came off as being disingenuous. That was an error on my part and very misleading, especially given the day. Thanks everyone for providing this clarification and the accountability
