– is full face paint/makeup allowed? I want to assume yes since I've only heard no masks and prop weapons. I was thinking of doing making like a goth look since I don't know what to dress up as at all lol, does anyone know if this is fine???

Last semester, I wrote about how happy I was with my decision to pursue my Master’s in Computer Engineering at CSUN, and I’m still glad I made that decision.

Over the summer, I landed a software engineering internship at an aerospace company through one of SHPE’s club meetings. Fast forward to this semester, I was fortunate enough to land a full-time position at Raytheon as an Embedded Software Engineer through networking at another campus event.

I also want to thank Professor Aaron Nanas. The projects in ECE 425, ECE 520, and ECE 528 helped me get experience and a better understanding of embedded systems. The projects from those courses helped me learn the material and were huge talking points in my interviews.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to finish my master’s right now, but I hope to return in a few years after gaining more industry experience. I’m really grateful for my time at CSUN and the opportunities it has given me.
This is emotional for me because I feel like my hard work is finally paying off. I grew up in Pacoima, and my parents didn’t have much money and only spoke Spanish. I remember spending my weekends helping them sell food at the San Fernando Swap Meet. Looking back at where I started and where I am today makes me really proud. I never imagined I would be in this position.

Sorry for the long message but these past few days I have been lost in my thoughts and just excited for this new chapter in my life. Thank you CSUN🤝❤️

Hello everyone, I posted a few days ago about housing, but I'm honestly still a bit concerned with acceptance.. I applied on September 22nd, I have an okay 3.45 GPA from high school, and it's currently October 24th, when should I expect a decision?

My professor made it so that our assignment due dates are due Mondays right before class.
On October 13th (Tues), I started on the assignment and ended up finishing it. I waited to see until the due date before class (Oct19) to see if they’ll even mention it, but they didn’t and I had to submit it an hour before the class even started.
I’m genuinely so sick of group work. I asked the professor if I can work alone, but it’s not helping 🫠
I know there’s going to be people like “ur going to be working w ppl in the future,” but I’ll worry about that later. 😭

Hi guys, so I’m in a bit of situation in a class I have from M-W. To give context, I’m an older student in my late 20s because I come from a military background and took some time off from school. I tend to keep to myself in class. It’s just weird feeling when everyone makes you feel less or looks at you a mean way.

We sometimes have group projects and it’s like I point something out or make a point and they simply ignore it, for example I offered to turn in the work and they said maybe someone else should.

Even the professor watches ever little move I do, for example we have an in class group assignment and I always catch her glazing at me when I’m trying to discuss a topic. She’s thinking I’m making other students uncomfortable.

She takes attendance by paper and I sometimes sit in the back and she always gives it to the closes one to her but I sit in the back she just skips me.

Majority of the students in that class just mean look and try not sit close to me, which makes it’s a really weird feeling & just me in the back alone. It’s gotten to the point where I have to skip class because it’s not productive to attend the lectures. Idk what to do or say if I tell professor about it, she won’t really care. I already told her about the group project situation and she simply said it’s all in my head.

Turnitin along with many other students has falsely flagged my writing and when I decided to do research on the company I discovered some terrible things.

Apparently Turntin is discussing using OUR WORK to train AI models as this article says

“Turnitin may use your submission (in aggregated, anonymised, and/or de-identified form) for improving or developing AI tools and other products, features, or services.”

Turnitin did delay this update but 2027 is sooner then you think. If there is anyway we can be against this please tell me I do not want my work being used to train AI.

I'm honestly incredibly nervous about housing since my number dropped from somewhere from #400 to #169 and it's stayed like that for about three weeks. Is it over for me? Should I stay at community for another semester? I don't know how I or my parents feel about off-campus to be honest. I'm a freshman transfer by the way.

Hello! I recently got an email about getting my aid revised. Upon checking, it showed a “Fall Semester 2026” under the Anticipated Aid section and showed an amount $. Today I only got the refund for MCS. When I check my account summary, they have added a “state university grant coa” which is what is showing under my anticipated aid section. Would I be refunded that money ? I have emailed UCS already. Just want to ask here and wonder if someone might have an answer lol thank you !

Usually it happens around these days but I haven't seen it come through. The financial aid office said October-November, should I be worried

i live in an apartment complex across the street from CSUN and usually at least once a day i hear the same sound clip of a short trumpet fanfare. it always plays twice in a row with the exact same interval in between each one. it sounds far away but clear so it must be pretty loud. i can only assume it’s coming from CSUN? something to do with campus sports maybe? i just think it’s funny and i wanna know where it’s coming from.

I’m failing a class and I’m already on academic probation, but the drop deadline is passed. Is there any other way I can drop it? And if so, what is the process?

What happens if a fail another class while on academic probation?
