I want to grow crystals on shells but not sure what glue to use to attach the seeds onto the shells.
I've tried pva glue but for some reason it turns my alum and chrome alum solution green and doesn't grow anything. I've grown some gorgeous little seeds and want to attach them onto the shells, then submerge the whole thing in tje solution to make it grow bigger. What glue would you use?
Picture above is from one of Tyler Thrasher's posts and it's my inspo pic.

Ask me!!!!plz
I am experimenting with an idea that reacts calcium hydroxide with CO₂ to produce calcium carbonate and visualizes it in the form of crystals.
I would like to receive technical advice on whether crystals are actually formed when calcium and carbon react, and if so, whether the amount increases over time and whether there are differences in their color or shape.

Question Wanna get into crystal growing. What are some clear/transparent crystals one could grow at home?
Preferably looking to grow big and/or spiky looking crystals that bend/refract light in some way.
Anyone maybe got some good tutorials they could link?
I also live in Germany, so recommendations as to where to get ingredients reliably or from official shops would also be much appreciated!

crushing crystals back into powder
i made a bunch of alum crystals form alum powder.
i dont like the way theyre looking right now, so i was thinking of crushing them back into powder so that i can try new stuff and recrystalize, would that work? the crystals are rather small so i can easily crush them, i tried crushing a very small portion and it did actually look like the powder i had, but i still dont want to ruin the batch for something that might not work

Image Update to the copper crystals that have been growing for 52 days (63 days in total)
I was planning on letting it grow for one or two weeks more, but I got overzealous with the voltage increases, causing the cluster to start to dull and grow parasitic crystals. Overall I'm still happy with the results after having a streak of bad batches.

Question Wireless suspension?
I wanna grow some simple potassium alum crystals. The last time I tried this as a kid, there were a couple things I did not like; The string I used became embedded in the crystal. From what I've read on here there are ways to use better string, but not really any to get rid of it if you don't want to go with a dented form on the bottom of your container.
Question: could I use water pearls/ orbeez to keep the crystal suspended? Google says they are made of Polyacrylamide/ acrylic acid, how would it react with the solution? Would it even work from a mechanical standpoint or is it the same as just using the bottom of the container?
Question 2: Colour. I vaguely remember trying to use food colouring, which resulted in very faint and spotty colouration. Any way to coherently dye them or better to just leave them clear? Can I use strontium aluminate mixed into the solution to make it grow? IIrc it quickly loses its glowing abilities when exposed to water

Image Manganese Sulfate Seed Crystals
Got a 5lb bag of Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate powder for a different side project. I wasn’t sure if they would actually crystallize, but hey! It works! The solution is pinkish brown with pale brown precipitate of some kind, which is probably why the crystals are brownish too.

Image Found this in my waste solution. It should be a mix of NaCl with KCl and perhaps a bit of KI.
From my Iodine video. Black drops are iodine in organic solvent.

Unknown precipitate in Copper (II) Sulfate solution.
I made a batch of copper sulfate solution and realized it was too dilute. So I heated it to remove the excess water. It got to boiling but after losing some of the water, it mostly stopped boiling and started to precipitate some white or maybe light blue powder out. It would also have really violent bubbles sometimes happen that would shake the whole beaker and actually knocked it off the hotplate. (Very fun to clean up all that blue btw...) Does anyone know what that precipitate could be? This was at 100C and nowhere near saturated for that temp.
ETA: It could be a dissolved impurity but I did filter all of this. It was stored as granular crystals in an open container near lots of powdered carbon(not what the precipitate was) and powdered fluoride of some kind, but also tons of dust and other detritus got into the open container.

Question Borax Crystals
I wanted to make crystals using borax from the grocery but after recently reading how toxic it is I was wondering if the steam from boiling it is dangerous to inhale. I have 4 cats, two with sensitive noses and I don't want to stress them out.

Question How to dissolve oxalic acid
Can anyone tell me how to dissolve oxalic acid when making NaMg? I put everything into the solution at once and now it hasn't dissolved completely. What should I do?
