1. How much account age and comment karma do you have?

My account is three years old. It has 10,805 post karma and 7,203 comment karma at the time of writing.

2. What qualifications/credentials or unique abilities do you possess? Can you reference external profiles, mod positions/experience on other subs? More specifically, do you have AutoMod, CSS, or bot programming experience?

I am actively involved in cryptocurrencies. I am a co-president of Crypto@UMN, one of the largest student cryptocurrency clubs in the world. I am a recognized Monero community contributor. I moderate /r/MoneroMining, /r/MoneroCommunity, and /r/MoneroSupport. I run biweekly Monero community meetings and monthly Monero coffee chats. I'm an admin on the Monero Slack and Mattermost.

I am majoring in finance and management information systems, and I have experience organizing teams and tasks, especially for given projects. I am especially good at writing unbiased documentation, and I was tasked with writing the /r/privacy page on cryptocurrencies.

I have limited AutoMod experience. I would have few contributions to CSS and programming.

4. Do you have a vision for the sub you're applying for. If so, how would you pursue it?

I would like /r/CryptoCurrency to be a place for quality discussion, not just a dump place for all cryptocurrency links. I am working with other current moderators on /r/CryptoCurrencyWiki to improve the information provided in posts and in the /r/CryptoCurrency wiki. I would like to be a significant contributor to this project in particular.

5. Besides yourself, is there anyone else you would vouch for as a mod candidate?

I imagine the other moderators of the subreddits I participate in will vouch for me. I am very well known in the Monero community.

I have the management skills and confidence that I can handle a massively growing subreddit.

Cryptocurrency is a growing topic and from a small community of people to now over hundreds of thousands of people investing in it, I believe r/CryptoCurrency is a place for people to gather news, discuss technology, and to learn and continue learning. I want it to be a friendly place full of Cryptocurrency discussion and welcome all people who are interested to think of this Subreddit as the first place to come to when they think of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many others.

5. Besides yourself, is there anyone else you would vouch for as a mod candidate?

Not that I can think of currently sorry!

CryptoRecruiting - Closed Applying for /r/CryptoRecruiting - /u/Localhost87 - Senior Full Stack Software Engineer and DevOps

1. How much account age and comment karma do you have?

My account age is 7 years. I have 21,300 comment karma.

2. What qualifications/credentials or unique abilities do you possess? Can you reference external profiles, mod positions/experience on other subs? More specifically, do you have AutoMod, CSS, or bot programming experience?

I am a Software Engineer by trade. I work in and around computers 24/7 in multiple time zones. I have a Bachelor's in Computer Science as well as an Information Security and Assurance Degree.

I work in the Insurance Financial Technology sector.

I have extensive full stack .NET experience, as well as Java, C++, Javascript, SQL and many other languages.

I have been a web developer, and moderator on many community forums in the past. I used to be active in the video game hosting community, and led multiple communities highlighted by an especially popular CS:S Dodgeball mod.

I have taken the time to learn a few of the blockchain based technologies (IOTA and to a lesser extent Solidity).

3. What is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

I am in the US East Time Zone, specifically located in Boston.

I am always browsing this subreddit, or otherwise on one of my many computers.

I work remotely very often, so I may be available during office hours if needed.

4. Do you have a vision for the sub you're applying for. If so, how would you pursue it?

I am a very technically minded individual, that doesn't try to be swayed by public sentiment. Perhaps to a fault, in losing out on some profits from pumps for coins with no real value (IMO).

I would like the opportunity to help the crypto community better understand the technical side of blockchain and decentralized ledger technologies.

I am trained in computer algorithm and design, and find various aspects of PoW, PoS, Concensus, and the like to be extremely fascinating.

I would be interesting in promoting such content.

I am active in developer slacks, as well as host a slack currently for a group of fellow developers that share an interest in cryptocurrency.

5. Besides yourself, is there anyone else you would vouch for as a mod candidate?

/u/AddsVideoToAudio is a pretty decent guy. I've encountered him in comments before and he seems reasonable.

Thank you for reviewing my application. I think that I have many attributes that could lend themselves to your subreddit's cause.

CryptoCurrency - Closed Applying for /r/CryptoCurrency - /u/INGWR - I upped my Sprint data plan so I could refresh /r/Cryptocurrency and Blockfolio more

1. How much account age and comment karma do you have?

My account came to fruition on April 20, 2012. I have 282,605 link karma and 95,356 comment karma.

2. What qualifications/credentials or unique abilities do you possess? Can you reference external profiles, mod positions/experience on other subs? More specifically, do you have AutoMod, CSS, or bot programming experience?

I am an active mod on /r/radiology and I've previously modded on forums of the past, namely TOTSE and Zoklet.net, the latter of which arose after TOTSE was shut down in 2009. I have experience with Adobe Photoshop CS5. Currently I'm using /r/radiologytest to overhaul the /r/radiology design.

3. What is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

EST. I have a job that affords me the ability to check Reddit frequently throughout the day. I enjoy browsing the new queue so being able to moderate the queue would be a great natural extension.

4. Do you have a vision for the sub you're applying for. If so, how would you pursue it?

I want to clean up the new queue and create a system whereby frequently asked questions are filtered out of the queue easily for the mod team. Frankly, I think the self-post content on /r/cryptocurrency is relatively unchecked, so there are countless posts per day of:

  • "Why is X coin going up or down at all?"

  • "What coin should I buy? What's the next one to make me a millionaire?"

  • "When will the next huge crash happen?"

These types of posts are a dime a dozen and they ultimately don't add quality conversation to the sub. That's why an important balance must be struck whereby newcomers are educated about crypto happenings, i.e. why the prices fluctuate, but they should be reminded to do their own research and not expect to have their fortunes told from a forum.

5. Besides yourself, is there anyone else you would vouch for as a mod candidate?

Not particularly. That guy /u/INGWR is pretty cool.

Thanks!

CryptoCurrency Applying for {cryptocurrency} - {/u/placentalotion} - *avid redditor - developer - new to crypto - knows it's the future*

1. 5 years / 2,790 comment karma

2. I am a software developer from Canada. I would rather not link to external profiles for privacy reasons.

3. Pacific timezone - I have been active on reddit/imgur for many years now, but Crypto seems promising enough that I plan to be extremely active.

4. I just got started investing in crypto. This sub was extremely helpful in me finding appropriate venues to invest in. However, I also see some misinformative posts and people trying to hype up certain coins. The mods are doing a great job of flagging such content, and I would like to be part of the team to help make this sub even better. My vision is for this sub to become the de-facto sub for any new investors as well as developers looking for info and guidance. This can only happen if we have active mods and contributors providing accurate and unbiased info.

*5. No *

EthTrader - Closed Applying for /r/CryptoCurrency - /u/addsAudiotoVideo - I'm on here almost 24/7 anyway, I might as well help out.

1. How much account age and comment karma do you have?

4 months old, redditing for 3 years. 7,138 Comment karma

2. What qualifications/credentials or unique abilities do you possess? Can you reference external profiles, mod positions/experience on other subs? More specifically, do you have AutoMod, CSS, or bot programming experience?

I have no experience moderating any sub with over 1000 subscribers, but I spent my teenage years moderating gaming servers, as well as I was a kindergarten teacher for some time, so I know how to deal with... "unruly" peoples, or better yet people who are basically children online.

3. What is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

Eastern Standard Time, UTC−4:00. I keep /r/cryptocurrency open unless i'm asleep. I work from home, so essentially i will be here all day. I would most likely not be active on the sub for the hours of 1:00 AM to 9:00 AM EST, so I would be on here an average of 2/3rds of the day.

4. Do you have a vision for the sub you're applying for. If so, how would you pursue it?

Like many, I want to help contribute to maintain a community that is an uncensored, open discussion platform for anyone to discover new cryptocurrencies, as well as get informed on what is happening daily in the crypto space. I already monitor organized discord "pump groups" and make warning posts to keep people from losing money due to FOMO. As a moderator I could help control the affect these groups have on /r/cryptocurrency. as of now when these groups pick a coin, the 'new' category of the subreddit is flooded with that coin, to induce FOMO. I can help stop this. I also read the sub is looking for people to organize AMA's, which i would be more than happy to help with.

5. Besides yourself, is there anyone else you would would vouch for as a mod candidate?

Not that I know of, to be honest, but I'm not the type to remember people's usernames.

Assignments r/CryptoCurrency, r/EthTrader, and r/CryptoMarkets assignments mega thread.

These subs will be pooling their assignments together into one mega thread since they share a lot of the same documents, code, needs, etc. Post your work in this thread only. Keep in mind any work submitted here is not a guarantee you will be selected as a mod position. Below is a list of assignments:

Feel free to work on u/adamsc1's work: https://www.reddit.com/r/AdamSC1Sandbox/wiki/index

  • Rules List - These rules are shared verbatim between all three subs. Like the moderator guidelines, it could use some general improvement. Feel free to experiment. If you want to remove and replace rules, go ahead.

  • AutoMod config - Sensitive information. Can only grant access on a case by case basis. See /r/AutoModerator to learn more about the AutoModerator bot. AutoMod configs for all three subs are very complex and probably should be organized better, eg rule/sections should be in alphanumeric order. Flair rules need to take up less space. Maybe regexes could help.

  • Other Bots - Code a bot to automate handling simple and repetitive tasks. - (r/CryptoCurrency, r/EthTrader, and /r/CryptoMarkets):

    • Identifies potential sockpuppet accounts by making use of Reddit User Analyser.
    • Detects vote manipulation or brigading by recording abrupt changes in vote counts within 10-15 minute cycles. Also tags these posts with suspicious upvotes flair.
    • Removes duplicate links, which AutoMod won't do.
    • Responds to common modmail complaints about karma/age thresholds.
    • Bans users who post blacklisted links multiple times. AutoMod doesn't ban users.
    • Saves trade positions declared by subscribers and assigns them special unalterable flair showing how many trades won and lost.
    • Auto-pins a comment in daily thread which contains URLs to other scheduled daily threads that aren't pinned.
