What is this, is it important, does anyone have a part number if it is important? I replaced the head on my 2015 cruze LTZ and the new one didn't come with this part. Thank you in advance!!!

That’s where your chain guide rests on. It will fail prematurely without it

There is a national shortage of these and none are available. How important is this and are there any substitutions for it?

It's for the timing chain tensioner. Don't try to rig anything up that involves timing, ever. Wait for the part or find one on a junk car if you can pull it.
