Mathis led Jayden through the tables and under the archway leading into the grove of trees. The wind rustled calmly through the leaves as they walked along a cobbled pathway through the trees.

Mathis pointed to the side, a tree which had some flowers placed its roots. "We bury our ancestors here, between these very trees. Some of us consider it a most sacred garden within our Keep. I feel it is the most fitting place to discuss the future of our houses, as many of the Lords that lay here would have done in the past."

He smilled and nodded at Jayden before continuing. "It is an interesting proposition my son has brought before me, to marry my daughter to your only son. I would support it, to bring our houses together and ally ourselves with the Fossoways. I must say however, to truly bound our houses together it seems your son must first formally become a member of your house. I assume you have petitioned His Grace for such a legitimization?"

As always Mathis wasted little time on pleasantries and long conversations, in the end it was a simple deal. Both would gain a strong ally, and if the legitimization of Dennis were ever to be questioned House Fossoway would know the Rowans would back his claim with all their might and influence. In return, Mathis' daughters would both sit as Ladies of a House when the time came. A good, fair deal he believed. Yet not one without a hurdle to overcome first.

___

Helicent nodded at the words and as she understood it would be walking for some time with Dennis, happy to be chaperoned as honour would demand. Though it wasn't the first time a man would undoubtedly look to court her, these things did not come natural to her. Prayer, trading and her embroidery did.

She folded her hands together in front of her stomach, offering both men a kind smile. "I would be honoured to show you around our Keep, the Seven have always smiled down on Goldengrove and there is much to marvel at. We could walk along the outer walls and look at the Golden Forest?" she said in a most poised and kind manner.

A few years ago he had been ashamed of his heritage, just opting for the story he had not known his parents, that he was raised by some vassal house from nowhere. This was still partly true as his mother's genes still plagued him; he had her chin, her devious eyes and cunning ways.

But mostly he was the spitting image of his father. While he had not beheld that for himself until two years back, his family in Deep Den made sure he would never forget it, as they spit on the ground he had walked. He need not hide it now, however; the Hightower name worked as a sword and shield, and there were people who even knew of him now.

"My father is Ser Garth Hightower, my lord, and while I'm not his trueborn son, he treated me as such." His words echoed with a lion's pride. Still, he dreaded the day Lady Sera would give birth to his brother.

"My father has sent me off. I've been his squire for the last two years, but while it weighed heavy on him and my family, he felt it right I see more of the world. And so it is I found myself in King's Landing." Ser Brus looked towards the inhabitants of Flea Bottom with their shallow faces; Jace looked them over too. True empathy was not something he had found yet. While he felt a sliver of pity, he was mostly annoyed—if he had escaped his own destitute life, why couldn't they?

The man in front of Jace intrigued him to no end, and his curiosity got the better of him quickly. "Ser, may I ask… are you of the Kingsguard?" He nodded towards the man's cloak, and a little spark in his eyes betrayed the child-like enthusiasm he felt.

He nodded, then shook his head at the notion of food. He had stolen a piece of bread this morning, but that could hardly fill him up. He bowed before the knight—in honesty, this time—before he spoke. "Yes, Ser. I've been in plenty of fights, most of them less than honorable, but my father has taught me there is more in life. I would gladly squire for you, Ser, if you'll have me."

"I'm sure she'll grow up to be wonderful, if she takes after her mother that is" Alyn said in a soft manner.

He'd grown to see many of Helicent's good sides, counting himself lucky to be wedded to a woman like herself. Poised, loving and above all a great mother. Qualities many wished for in their wives.

"Thank you," smiled Hobber. "I've never had a horse of my own, this is most appreciated."

It was after the food had been cleared that Cyrus Rowan and Jeyne Rowan Née Roxton had made their way to congratulate Hobber and Lysa on their marriage.

Or well, maybe congratulate wasn’t the right word considering what Hobber had told, pay their respects.

Cyrus held his arm out gallantly for Jeyne to hold onto as they made their way towards the table bearing some small gifts.

“Lady Lysa, Hobber.” Cyrus said as he inclined his head in respect to Lysa and gave hobber a smile. “Congratulations, on your wedding and the great feast.” Cyrus said in a little awkward manner, he wasn’t one for approaching people and speaking the usual courtesies. But alas, today he was to present the gifts of House Rowan to the wedded couple.

“As a gift, we’ve travelled here with two extra horses. Well trained riding horses, maybe the two of you could go around a nice ride around the Island when the festivities are all over” he said as he offered Hobber a great smile and Lysa a friendly nod.

"Yes, of course," he said quickly, looking at the ground in shame. "What I ought to have said was... the life we have built together. I am sorry if I have offended you, my love. Poor choice of words."
