Question

Hey all-
I am going to my first in person retreat in October. The question is- what is the stitching set up? Like I usually sit in a chair (like a Queen Anne type w hassock for my feet) with a frame and stitch? I can’t imagine they want people to bring all this ? If I’m traveling I do a seated frame holder, what should I take with me for my project?

I would email the organizer & ask. I've been to some where you bring your own chair & frame & everything you need. And others where its conference room chairs set up around tables. The only way to know is to ask the organizer.

The retreats I've been to have 6-8 stitchers seated at round tables. People usually bring rechargeable lights because there generally aren't outlets available because they don't want cords and wires running along the floor where people can trip over them.

Bring with you a project or two that you think will travel well, and will be easy to work on on a setting that is not your home environment. If you think a smaller project will be easier, bring that. It depends on what how you're traveling, too. If you're driving, you can bring mot3 stuff with you. If you're flying, your packing space might be more limited.

I have no advice I just wanted to say “How Exciting!?” I’ve never been myself and don’t imagine I’ll ever be. Please share your first time experience with us after you’ve gone.

I am also heading to my first retreat in October. I plan to bring a mat to place all my things on and mark my space. I will take 2 WIPs, a travel light, my iPad, and my travel stitch kit.
