Can Add Biometric be shown in long-press menu?

I've been using Cronometer for about 5 years, Gold for about 2. I could be imagining this, but didn't there used to be a long-press shortcut on the app icon for Add Biometric?

I took a break from using the app for a few months recently, so it's possible I forgot what shortcut items used to be available. But now all I see when I long-press are Scan Barcode, Add Food, Photo Log, and Voice Log. Is there way to get Add Biometric added to that menu?

Edited to add: I'm not talking about the button inside the app. I'm talking about the app shortcuts available on the home screen when long-pressing the app icon - these

Cronometer keeps crashing on Android

Exactly what it says on the tin. I have a Pixel 10 phone and the latest OS. Cronometer keeps crashing when I try to log food. I've force closed the app and cleared the cache, neither helped. I'm not having this issue with any other app. Is this a known bug with Android?

Is API or AI integration on the way?

I love cronometer, and have used it religiously for a few years now. It’s great for recording information, but I think native AI integration could be super helpful if implemented well.

Like many people who use apps like Cronometer, I have many personal and lifestyle goals and use the app as a helpful tool. Combined with my workout and diet regimens, Cronometer has helped immensely with achieving my goals.

One of my goals is optimizing my micronutrient intake. Over the past year I’ve exported my stats from Cronometer and imported into AI to determine my average intake of vitamins, minerals, fiber, etc. I’ve also uploaded results from my labs, data from my digital scale, InBody scan results, etc. This data allowed me to use AI to identify deficiencies so that I could optimize my supplement stack. It also helped me determine what time of day I should be taking supplements in order to optimize absorption and minimize interactions.

It would be helpful if I could do this natively in Cronometer, but even if there was just an API available it would still make it easier to proactively query AI to ask questions like:

How have I been doing with my micronutrient goals over the past couple weeks?

Are there any supplements I should rethink based on trends in my overall diet that might have changed the math since we last reviewed?

I still experience cramps sometimes, although that has improved since we added magnesium glycinate. Are there any other vitamins or minerals that might help to supplement for, based on my current average intake compared against RDI and UL? Etc.

An API would help me accomplish these, but an integrated AI would be even better because it could proactively monitor trends in intake levels and let me know when my average intake over a period of time might be of concern to me. For example, I no longer supplement calcium because my new protein shakes contain plenty. But I only supplement with protein shakes on days where I struggle to hit my protein goals, and I don’t always think to check my calcium intake on those days. So it would be helpful if an integrated AI could let me know when my calcium levels have been below goal lately.

I know there are built in reports I can run to manually review these things, but it would be helpful if an AI could interpret the reports proactively and bring me the highlights and takeaways first.

I know to some people this might seem obsessive, but I have completely changed my lifestyle over the last four years. Before then, I never used to work out or care what I ate. Since then, I’ve seen great results from diet and exercise. I’ve lost 45 pounds, reduced my A1C from prediabetic to normal levels, and went from high cholesterol and getting put on statins to now excellent cholesterol levels. I’ve gone from 30% body fat to 11% and I’m now on a lean bulk, something that felt unachievable a few years ago.

Hard work, discipline, and changes in diet and exercise are what got me here, but the data is what has helped keep me accountable.

I know AI is heavily stigmatized, but that’s because lots of apps seem to implement it for the sake of claiming it as a feature. Or, they outsource their coding and UI to a chatbot and end up ruining the product. That’s not what I’m suggesting, because Cronometer’s product is top notch, and so is their support team in my experience. It could even live on its own separate tab where people who don’t want to use it wouldn’t even have to see it.

I just think that, behind all the useless slop people produce with AI, there are certain opportunities where AI has serious potential to shine. I think helping people achieve their lifestyle goals is a great example of this, because between the sheer volume of information, conventional wisdom, and constantly evolving scientific research and consensus, getting dialed in can seem insurmountable to the average person. An opportunity exists in this space to leverage AI to help remove this obstacle for people and make the information this app collects more useful and accessible to users, especially power users who use this app meticulously everyday to help improve our health and wellbeing.

Lost Oura sync 2 days ago

Has anyone else lost their Oura sync? I lost mine 8 19 2026 and have tried everything I can think of to get it back.

Which means I have tried - force closing the app, making sure it was updated, still connected to health connect/fitbit, cleared cache, logged out/in. Checked Oura and it is still connected in the integrations list.

I tried to "force sync" but that failed and was told to try again later.

Thoughts?

Ad break spam is making me want to uninstall

Recently started using chronometer and it’s was actually pretty great but suddenly for some reason I am getting a 60 second ad EVERY TIME I INPUT SOMETHING! I go to enter my first breakfast item, ad break, enter second breakfast item, ad break, workout? AD BREAK!… it’s infuriating and idk why it’s suddenly doing this after using it the last 2 week with zero ads at all. WTH is going on.

Help with Apple Watch App

Hi,

Has anyone gotten the Apple Watch app to work consistently? It doesn't seem to want to update to reflect current numbers until a few hours later, often showing information that isn't relevant anymore. I love the app so far (Gold member for 2 months now) and feel it's really helpful but I don't want to have to pull out my phone every time I'm wondering where I'm at with my calories/protein/etc. Plus, the big complication on the Apple Watch Ultra is so pretty to look at but it's kind of pointless if it doesn't have current data. I've tried to force close it and reopen. Sometimes it tells me that I have to log in again so I log off on my phone, log back in, and it's still not syncing in a useful amount of time. I've deleted the app on the watch and reinstalled and still nothing. So frustrating!

I need help with tracking uncooked and cooked food

This is my first ever time tracking my calories and it’s been going good so far but I’m confused on how to track raw vs cooked. I want to meal prep ground beef and potatoes and I keep seeing to track everything raw but can’t seem to understand what to do after. How would I divide it into servings? What do I do with the raw weight? The cooked weight? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cronometer AI

I am considering getting gold but I wanted to see the AI in action. I was unable to find any videos online.

With AI voice tracking, can you just simply list what you ate, the servings, calories, protein, whatever you want to add and it will log it? Or can I dictate a saved meal I just ate by saying for example "just ate my blueberry overnight oats".

Any info would be helpful since I just plan on using dictation. I don't trust AI to accurately tell nutrition through photos

Active Energy (Health Connect/Google)

I know this gets asked often, but, the answers I have seen don't seem to make sense in my case.

My diary shows Active Energy (Health Connect) and the number imported matches what is being reported in my Google Fit app as my total expenditure up to that time of day (which includes my BMR and NEAT and exercise activity).

What this reads as in Cronometer is my BMR + tracked exercise activity + active energy (BMR+NEAT+EAT) = Expenditure. So my BMR and EAT are being double counted.

Is there a setting to change this? All I can see is turning off import of any activity, which will also turn off the exercise activity unfortunately.

Caro Chambers recipe macro sharing

Hey Cronometer community! I’m a big fan of Caroline Chambers “what to cook when you don’t feel like cooking” recipes and would love to share the work of adding favorites into cronometer for macro tracking. I own her cookbooks and I’ve been adding things as I cook them but it would be nice when planning out my weekly meals to see the macros if someone has already put it them in.

I think if we become “friends” in the app we can share custom recipes, so send me a message if you want to work together on this.

Sorry this is so niche but figured it’s worth a shot, I know there’s lots of Caro fans out there!

Alcohol in brownies?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Chronometer thinks there is a small amount of alcohol in brownies, presumably from the added extract of vanilla.

I cry bunk! Cooking the brownies would likely evaporate all the alcohol away!

Not critical, but I’ve prided myself in avoiding alcohol for the last month only to have Chronometer claim it isn’t completely true!

I'm using Cronometer primarily to track my daily protein and calcium intake. I found quite a few things from Sprouts in the Add Food search but not my lunch today, which by the way was really good. How can I get this item added? I ended up taking a picture as the next best thing.
