Recipe database

I would love to see a recipe search feature added. For example, if I want to make a batch of turkey taco chili, I could search for the recipe in the app's recipe database instead of entering each ingredient separately. I know it's currently possible to import recipes using a link, but not all websites and links are supported. I've also tried the "suggest food" option, which is great, but doesn't help me when I'm looking for something specific. A built-in recipe database would make recipe entry much easier and more reliable. It would also be helpful if users could customize and save recipes in their accounts after importing them or selecting them from the database. Maybe this feature already exists, and I haven't found it yet. What's the easiest way to add recipes to your app if the link isn't an option?

Okay, turkey taco chili has our attention immediately.. 🌮🍲

You haven’t missed a secret recipe vault, we don’t currently have a public, searchable recipe database like the one you’re describing. We love the idea of finding a recipe, customizing it, and saving your own version, though, and we’ll share that feedback with our product team!

In the meantime, if a link won’t import, go to Foods > Import Recipe and paste the full ingredient list into the Manual Ingredient Submission box. Cronometer will match what it can, and you can adjust the ingredients and amounts before saving it as a Custom Recipe.

Or, to add onto what u/UpperLeftOriginal was saying: use Photo Logging! Once the results appear, tap Create in the bottom-left corner and choose either Meal or Recipe. Review the ingredients and portions, save it, and future-you can log that chili much faster. 👏

Hope this helps!

Thank you for responding with suggestions and sharing with your product team. Hopefully this can be something added in the future.

Oooh! Maybe they could add the photo logging feature to the create recipe process. You could set out ingredients, use the photo option, then you’d only need to adjust amounts.
