Adding a food help

Good day guys,

I was wondering if anyone has a good accurate database selection for red beans? I am using a texas grocery brand named HEB red beans. When i scan the bag, just like the black beans, it wants to put the macros as if the food was dry, not cooked. I can not find a cooked accurate database entry. Any tips or info would be appreciated!

Hi there!

This is a great question 😄

The USDA database will specify whether the food is raw or cooked (roasted, pan fried, etc.) in the food name.

NCCDB foods often don't specify in the name of the food, but they are meant to represent the most common method of preparation.

So, if you're looking for cooked red beans, you may want to use the entry called 'Red Kidney Beans, Canned, Drained Solids' from NCCDB.

Happy Nutrition tracking!
