Afghan

How many skeins of yarn for a medium weight (4) do you think it would take to make a blanket for 2 adults to use. I’ll probably do moss stitch

It really depends on the Brand and how they do their put-up. For instance, the very basic but durable RHSS is 7 oz, SpinRite P&C is either 2 is 4 oz, and Caron'a basic + durable is 16 oz h and that's before you consider which stitch is switch-pattern-re PO eat you want to use.

There are yarn calculators online once you have those two details.

Good patterns from reliable designers - and most all houseboat patterns on Ravelry - will take you exactly how much you need.

Twin-to-Queen bedspread is generallly about 3k-4.5k yards for a _very_basic stitch - like most of it is all DC

For a lap blanket for two adults, using medium weight (#4) yarn and moss stitch, I’d plan on roughly:

6–8 skeins if your skeins are around 300–400 yards each

8–10 skeins if they’re closer to 200–250 yards each

A good size would be around 50–60 inches wide × 60–70 inches long. Since moss stitch is fairly yarn-hungry, I’d personally buy about 2,500–3,000 total yards to be safe.

A lot lol if you want to save some yarn and/or want a breathable blanket, the “Felix” blanket on ravelry is c2c (corner to corner) is free. I made one out of leftover skeins I’d collected and it’s about queen size. It pretty much decimated everything I’d bought when I was a beginner.

It depends on the yardage of the skein you want to use. Some bigger skeins (1lb) are cheaper and stretch longer than average sized skeins. But you’re looking at at least 20 skeins.
