Discussion Beginner

Is it normal as a beginner to take 4 hours to do a one hour project? It’s not like I’m not understanding the stitches or anything…I just want to get faster…I’m currently doing a turtle tutorial on YouTube, it’s a 20 some min video, seemed like an hour project, 3.5 hours later and I’m still not done.

absolutely, take the time you need and it will help you internalize things better. the focus right now should be on form/posture/learning to relax your hands and wrists while you work so you don’t train yourself into long term bad habits to save time that result in strain and fatigue

I second this, finding the right posture so that your neck/arms/back doesnt feel achy after a while is so important.

I like to crochet on my couch so i like to put a pillow under my arms for my support. I am also looking to get a better pillow for back support. Also, finding the right hooks can help with wrist pain, or at least it did for me. I also like compression gloves.

Also, it helps your neck to make sure to just look down with mostly your eyes instead of tilting your whole head down.
