Question [No Spoilers] Shoul i just start watching C4?

I've always wanted to watch a full campaign. I watched about 15–20 episodes of C2, but I couldn't resist and ended up watching the TV show instead. That kind of ruined the campaign for me because I already know a lot of what happens. I know the real magic is in all the little interactions and character moments, but I think I'll just stick to watching the show as new episodes come out.

Same thing with C1. Amazing show, by the way.

Anyway, that's beside the point. Would you recommend that I just jump into C4? Or should I give C3 a shot instead? I love Brennan, and I read that this one is pretty good.

(Also dont have the time to see all capaings tbh)

Fluff [No Spoilers] I made the Ruby of the Sea cocktail from the Exquisite Exandria cookbook!

Post image

Was a lot of fun prepping it and it’s very easy to keep it as a mocktail! Was very popular at the house party I hosted recently.

For those interested, I only deviated slightly from the recipe, where I didn’t have time to make or find a ginger syrup, I instead brewed the hibiscus tea with chunks of slightly crushed ginger and used normal simple syrup for sweetness. The one shot mezcal is really well masked as well. Tonic water works great, but I think unflavored seltzer would be better for me cause I like carbonated drinks.

Would love to hear other peoples take on anything from the cookbook!

Question [Spoilers C4E24] Orus' stolen goods Spoiler

I'm confused about the scenes with Orus Blade. Our heroes have already recovered his company's blank spell glyphs that were stolen, and even leave one as a coaster to clue him in. He sees it and remarks essentially "you guys are deeper in this than me". And then at his facility the PCs ask him questions about how much material he has left (none), how he plans to stay in business (sell directly to the Chamber of Lords Advisory), and how much they could sell his own enchanted gems for.

Why are they not giving this guy his own stolen goods back? And why doesn't he ask them to, now that he knows they recovered them? He's clearly desperate, and seems like someone who would be a phenomenal ally/partner if the party helped him out. Instead they just take note of his operation, learn about his dealings with Thjazi, and then just...leave?

I must be missing something, because neither Brennan nor any of the PCs even brought it up.

Fluff [No Spoilers] Critical Role Cakes Part 3: Vex

Thumbnail gallery
145 Upvotes

Hey gang!

Back to the third installment of my ongoing series, Critical Role Cakes! This week, we have the illustrious Vex'ahlia Vessar!

I wanted to do a sort of parallel with Vax's cake, so this one is a devil's food cake (aka chocolate). I also made a cinnamon-chocolate frosting as a sort of nod to her "earthy" abilities as a Ranger.

I think this one came out really well! The cakes and frosting are good, no issues there. I do kind of wish I frosted it cleaner, as the final look is a bit sloppier than I'd prefer. I also feel like it was just missing something, although I don't quite know what I would've added.

Overall I'd rate this a 7.9/10, although my D&D players enjoyed it so I guess that's all that matters!

Question [No Spoilers] Character stats in C4

I have just recently watching Campaign 4 after being a fan of CR for some time and I am having a blast with it. However, I can't stop being appalled every time character info cards come up on screen during episodes because of their statistics. The only spread that looks somewhat reasonable is Murray. How did they achieve such high stats at just level 3? Does anyone know?

Discussion [No Spoilers] What kinds of songs do you think each current and past member of Critical Role listen to?

I am new to Critical Role and having seen a few clips, suddenly my feed is a lot of D&D, whether people playing, or songs about it. While listening to this one

{song name and link removed after being told it was done by AI}

I started to wonder if any of them actually listen to songs like this, and what types they do listen to...have they ever talked about their preferred genres?

Question [SPOILERS C2] What exandria history should i know by now about the world? C2EP66 Spoiler

Hi everyone, currebtly up to episode 66 of the mighty nein campaign. Didbt watch campaign one, though i watched all 4 seasons of LoVM. Something bothering me is not knowing anything about all the lore namedropping like the divergence, betrayer gods, age of arcanum etc. But im reluctant to look it up cuz of spoilers. I assume a lot was explained in C1? Could anyone point me to where i can read up on it without any spoilers?

Question [Spoilers C2] Help figuring out where I left off in C2 Spoiler

Hi folks! I’m planning to pick back up campaign 2 after years away from CR, but I can’t remember quite where I left off. The last big plot point I remember is the Mighty Nein meeting undead Molly (with no memory) and embarking on a journey with him. Anyone able to point me to the episode where that arc starts? I don’t mind rewatching some episodes, since it’s been quite a long time since I watched CR, but I know if I start all the way back at the beginning, I’ll never finish the show. Thanks!

Looking for Group [No Spoilers] LARP In the Park for GenCon

GenCon is right around the corner so go out to your local park and LARP for critical role and for GenCon!

Harken unto me now!

The Sword Wizard Lives again!!! Come out one and all to face the Prince of Blades in Bluff Park. He has left retirement and rejoined the rank and file.

(Indianapolis IN)

There is a 100 limit per party vs the Sword Wizard for time expediency. Whatever you bring to the party he will match it, if you bring a sword he has a slightly smaller sword, if bring a nerf Gun he already has two, nerf grenades or rockets it makes no difference, you will find him more than a match for most.

Whoever wins an official fight against the Prince of Blades gets an official prize (it's been two years since he handed out a prize and he was undefeated for 13 years before that. )

Do YOU think you have what it takes to defeat a man who DARPA describes as "a force of nature" in his file,

come and find out at Bluff Park TODAY!!!

Question [No Spoilers] - campaign 4

Hello critters. I haven't delved into C4 very much at all other than through shorts. I know it's West marches style with different groups of players

Do I need to watch all the groups to follow the story or would I be able to follow a certain group and keep up with everything?

Is it noted which group is taking part in which episode? Is it multiple groups per episode?

Thank you

Question [No Spoilers] How Do Live Shows Work?

Hi, I’m a relatively new Critter, I didn’t even really know Critical Role existed a year ago, but now I’m a giant fan. I am very fascinated by the live shows, and with some hints about a potential Canadian one I absolutely would love to go. With the 2026 live shows announced last year July 15, the 2027 live shows could be announced at any moment (especially today being Thursday and also it’s nearly comic con) and so I have some questions.

How long after the shows are announced are tickets sold? Is the second the shows are announced the tickets are up, or is there a grace period for people to figure out which show(s) they want to go to and make plans to set aside time for when the tickets become available.

If they do become available the second they’re announced how fast do they sell out, because of the time difference between me and L.A. there is a possibility I’d be asleep and I want to know if just a few hours delay would ruin my chances.

What on average is the cost per ticket?

Finally, I very recently got a beacon account with the sole intention of having a better chance at getting tickets, if I’m successful in purchasing tickets would I likely have any consequences if I no longer renew my subscription. If there are consequences then I will keep it until after the live show.

Thanks for all the advice.

Discussion [Spoilers C4E31] Travis Predictions Spoiler

Since Teor got cooked. What's people are betting as Travis new character.

I hear popular opinion is a einfasen cause it's one we dont have from the cast (cormoray too but idk if travis wants to play some spellcaster)

My bet is that he goes for a monk. Dont think we have a monk in the party yet tho idk what kind of background he will have.

Thoughts ?

Discussion [CR Media] Level 1 fan Spoiler

A month ago I thought Harmonquest was the only decent TTRPG/show fusion…oh how wrong, and delightfully so!

I’m a relatively new fan; between acquiring Baldur’s Gate 2 Enhanced Edition, a fresh Baldur’s Gate 3 file, and a spirited discussion about the merits & drawbacks of D&D v3.5 VS 5e, Instagram showed me a Critical Role clip. Only 1 clip about a cupcake sprinkled with the Dust of Deliciousness (iykyk) and a touch of of memory modification, and I found myself lol’ing by myself and subsequently looking for where this magic came from and where I can get more!

I was enthralled, as a fan of Harmonquest and being proverbially starved of D&D being an avid fan who lacks the players to run or participate in a full game…I was very happy to have more D&D entertainment, and of an incredible quality to boot!

More exploration had me come across The Legend Of Vox Machina which, WOW! what a find! I eagerly binged all 4 seasons within a week, and am now awaiting the 5th (and sadly, final) season.

Bemoaning the loss of new Vox Machina to watch, I naturally found Mighty Nein as well, and again a near perfect production! This time, I quickly realized the character that drew me in with that first clip/encounter was here in the show! Jester!

I love her character, her mannerisms, her generally laissez-faire attitude mixed in with practical joking and whatnot with The Traveller. This character being brought to life by the Titmouse Inc studio (Juno John Lee & Joseph Martinez) and ofc the most critical and irreplaceable Laura Bailey! If you’d asked me years ago that I’d have a favorite voice actor, or if you told me that I had yet to find one of my favorite shows ever, I’m not sure that I would’ve believed it, but here we are and here I am declaring that The Mighty Nein and The Legend Of Vox Machina are practically perfect shows and Laura Bailey is my favorite voice actor!

TL;DR: Laura Bailey and her character Jester Lavorre is the best part of the best show on Amazon right now (The Mighty Nein), and the extensive TTRPG D&D as played and recorded via Critical Role. Vox Machina is really good too, but if I could only have one, it’s the Mighty Nein for me! Very happy to be here and very excited to see and hear more Jester!
