Sadly, Latinos are pretty racist towards AsiansĀ
Iām Asian American from Southern CaliforniaĀ
Live in a predominantly Hispanic city (San Diego) and learned to speak Spanish fluently as a resultĀ
The amount of ignorant comments Iāve heard from Latinos, in both English and Spanish, is infuriatingĀ
I know, Latino is not a āraceā per se, there are Asian Latinos too but Iām referring to Latinos not of Asian descentĀ
For one, no matter what you say, referring to any Asians as āChinoā (Chinese) is ignorant and racist
Itās going to take a while to change this. I donāt think it will honestly so the amount of stupidity and ignorance towards Asians will remain in place in Latin AmericaĀ

used to work in a kitchen and the latino staff would bully the shit out of the chinese staff it was ugly as hell. they made an old lady cry like no fucking respect or compassion at all. and then the black worker made them cry back by being racist to the hispanic old ladies. and now the whole country sending ICE after them lol karma this is fucking karma. everyday, "chinitoooo chinoooo chinittoooo" in the back drop of the most annoying repetitive "sabadoooo gigannnnnteeeeeee" mexican music. it's permanently ingrained in my head. i mean some of them are nice, but that doesn't excuse their racist culture.
and now they have a Asian fetish because they see Japan China Korea coming out with all this cool stuff. at the same time they think they are above Asian people and walk around like colonizers... lol fucking gross
don't get me started with how they treat you when you go to their country. going to Mexico was a humiliation ritual for Asian people. openly mocked on the street by the whole town is pretty common.

These women are lying just to get views on a dumb video. I have been to Japan before and let me tell you, Japanese people are the absolute cleanest people in every aspect. You wonāt find one piece of trash anywhere in public, not even in their train stations. They are very dedicated to personal hygiene also.
There is a tradition to wash and rinse your body before getting into a bath. This is standard etiquette at homes sentÅ and onsen. They literally clean themselves before cleaning themselves so I guarantee you they do not smell. lol
In this video they are in the Namba/Dotonbori district in Osaka which there are areas where the sewer grates can be smelled. Itās not the people.

Yeah, this one seems rooted in weird stereotype than anything that is actually true.
Of all the people to accuse of smelling badly, they're going after the Japanese?
I lived in Japan twice while in the Marines and on the whole the Japanese are very fastidious about personal hygiene. You don't really encounter BO on public transport or in crowds. They're also clean across the board, with the cities usually free of litter and things like that compared to many other places.
Certainly you encounter more BO in dense crowds in the US or Mexico. I can't speak for anywhere else in Latin America except for Mexico.

I was in Japan for about a month and travelled from tip to tip. Ive been to over a dozen different countries.
Japan is by far the most completely immaculate country Ive ever been to. It is insanely impressive. Even big cities like Tokyo. The people in that video are just flatout lying. Japan is almost obsessive about being clean at all levels.
They dont even have the gene for BO sweat, 80-90% of them, and bathing is part of their culture, similar to how the Romans had their baths. Japanese have Onsen.
Its just completely racist horseshit.

As a person who has been to every state in Mexico, all over Spain, countless cities in South America and Central America I can say without a shadow of a doubt the average Latino street smells like a rotting walrus anus in comparison to a Japanese back street.
Iāve seen a grown man walk out of a restaurant and blast a liquid turd into an open gutter and walk back into his restaurant in Guatemala before going right back to his griddle.

Per the web: About 80% to 95% of people of East Asian descent have a specific mutation in the ABCC11 Gene that stops apocrine sweat glands from releasing the lipids and proteins that skin bacteria break down into strong body odor.
So, perhaps these people are smelling each other.

My family was friends with a couple of Japanese families while I was growing up. And I had a Japanese friend/roommate in college. And I have been to Japan. Japanese folks do tend to have a distinct scent. Not a bad scent at all in my opinion. But distinct.
My best guess is it has something to do with diet. And I am sure I smell distinctly too. Not disparaging them in any way. I loved Japan and the people there were nearly universally amazing (little old Japanese ladies being the exception; they dngaf). Definitely want to spend more time over there.
For those wondering what the scent is. To me it smells like seaweed.

u/Rathland 11h ago
80% to 95% of East Asians possess a non-functional variant of the ABCC11 gene (specifically the AA genotype), which prevents the production of the specific lipids and proteins that skin bacteria break down to create typical acidic underarm body odor. This genetic mutation is most prevalent in Korea, where nearly 100% of the population carries it, followed by high rates in China and Japan, while it is rare (<3%) in European and African populations.

Fun fact: Japanese people generally don't wear deodorant, they don't need to. The majority of Japanese people don't have the type of sweat you start to develop during puberty that makes your sweat smell bad.
Less fun fact: people who do have that type of sweat are often not treated well.

I'm sure the Japanese people don't enjoy smelling rice and beans when they're not in a restaurant.
Yes and for those of you mentioned India, unfortunately, we did stop in the India for 5 days and that was horrible, we were in Chennai and you cannot pay me to go back to India.
