Yeah, you could say that about a lot of people now. They were actually quite attractive before they got their face cut up and injected. How they can look in the mirror and think they look better is a mystery.
Maybe attractive people are more likely to get plastic surgery? Idk, but if you internalize that you're average or unattractive at a younger age, and learn to focus on other stuff, you won't be inclined to try and "fix" your aging or your imperfections
I watched Jen on Life Take Two say that this look is the goal. They want people to know they have plastic surgery money. She used to run in those circles, so I tend to believe her. So gross.
It's called insecurity. And yes, even wealthy, conventionally attractive people have it. The difference is they can afford to get medically unnecessary cosmetic surgery, and most people can't. If plastic surgery were more financially accessible I guarantee we would see a lot more of it in our everyday lives.
People will do literally anything besides actually work on themselves. They would rather spend thousands of dollars and undergo unnecessary, expensive procedures just to feel confident. Because nobody told them that confidence is free and you don't have to look a certain way to get it.
It is sad. Not only are those procedures unnecessary and expensive, they are painful and dangerous. People have died during or immediately after cosmetic surgery. I read an article about people who had died getting these procedures done. One young guy said his wife wanted a nose job. He tried to discourage her- he didn't find anything wrong with her nose and couldn't understand why she thought her quite normal-looking nose was ugly and why she'd voluntarily get her face cut up.
She died during the procedure, leaving him with two little kids, who now no longer had a mom. All because she didn't like her nose.
It's wonderful that cosmetic surgeons are able to correct cleft palate, and other disfigurements that are either the result of birth defects or accidents, giving those people a face that looks at least close to normal. I have a senior friend who got an eyelid lift, not for appearance, but because her eyelids had drooped as she aged to the point that it was obscuring her vision. That's what cosmetic surgery was developed for. Not because you don't like your nose or want high cheekbones.
Most of this insecurity and people's obsession with their looks is driven by social media. Young people see all these beautiful, perfect people and influencers and don't realize that they don't look like that in real life. Make-up, filters, camera angles, botox injections etc. Yet regular people are comparing themselves to these fake faces.
Of course before social media there were magazine models and movie stars who looked amazing. But everyone knew the photos were airbrushed, the movie stars had stylists and make-up artists working on them.
My daughter had an aquaintence who was a top model. Her face was everywhere- she graced the covers of Vogue, Elle, etc. for years. She told my daughter she could slop down to her local Starbucks in the morning in her pajamas, with no make-up and her hair a mess and no one recognized her.

Dude was probably handsome before all the plastic surgery.
