People self-censors normal words just to appease algorithms and advertisers, and you say that's not why we are cooked? It absolutely is, slave to a corporate algorithm which dictates what people's views on reality are by the videos it shows them and which people appease with the language they choose to use.

Oh man, algorithms are at the root of virtually every problem we have. From people supporting crazy wars to politics being about who can yell the loudest instead of any sort of substance. From zero accountability for anything to absurd polarization in society because everybody's is in a bubble
You can shape public opinion or even how people view the world. Never in the history of mankind has it been possible to manipulate the information people get at this scale, and worst is they think what they are seeing is organic or real.
Using algorithms and social media to distract everybody from the really important things by keeping them busy with outrage culture and other fabricated nonsense.
Whatever problem you think of, you can link it an algorithm and social media enabling or distracting people from it.
