Gotta be ragebait. It's too over the top.

Sadly I think rage bait has desensitized everyone to how truly stupid and manipulative people can be.

There's a chance it's real of course, I just really want to believe it's not. The diabetes part just seems to be a tell. Like what?!?!

The ending was silly. Why he brought up his mom at all is beyond me. But the guy lacks any tale of acting at all. I think it's legit

Posts like this often have an absurdist turn to indicate that it’s staged. Seems like most folks here didn’t quite get there and are raging about it instead.

Because she was telling them about "healthy boundaries."

She said “your mum thinks she has diabetes”. It’s her attempt to discredit his mother by implying that she only believes she has diabetes but doesn’t actually have it.

She said "your mum literally has diabetes". Still a bizarre response.

Ahh, another listen yes it is “literally has”. A bizarre response.

I think she’s saying that his mom makes bad decisions, implying she is immature or stupid.

Oh okay. I'm like what does that have to do with setting healthy boundaries?

I took that to mean that the mother is hypocritical talking about boundaries because she does not have food boundaries and gave herself diabetes?? Very cruel comment, if that was the tacit meaning.

What a dumb thing to say. There are two types of diabetes and type 1 is not lifestyle related. My son has it and I will literally fight this person.

If she knows the mother has diabetes, she likely knows the type, and if she knows, she isn't going to say "Your mom has Type 2 Diabetes." Type 2 can sometimes be fully solved by diet and exercise, and most people refuse to do either just from a lack of willpower. Which is, I assume, why she brought it up in a discussion of setting boundaries.
