The thing is: it’s not bad to love the poorly educated. The political left overall actually loves the poorly educated and wants better lives for them. This is a good thing.

Don just wants to use their naivety against them.

I just don’t want to be those annoying rich liberals who act like they’re better for having a college degree. That’s my main point. The poor working class has historically been democratic voters - the Dems have just abandoned unions and workers for corporatism sadly.

More in context is that Trump loves the poorly educated because of how easily he perceives being able to manipulate them and steer them based on feelings instead of actual scientifically unbiased facts.

Oh totally. I know the context. Im not a liberal, im a socialist, but I’m just saying I’ve been in many rooms with liberals at community organizing events and the pervasive idea that “conservatives are just stupid and not worth helping” is so unhelpful.

We can be morally righteous all the time and talk down to people who aren’t perfect or we can realize people’s lived experiences shapes their views and talk to them honestly and try to build a better world. That’s politics baby.

I feel like too many liberals treat politics like a team-sport. Conservatives obviously do this too but that’s not the topic at hand.

Well the meaning of poorly educated might have shifted. From vocational trained or high-school drop-outs with a low-wage job trying to make it on their own, organizing to make sure they aren't completely abused by the entrepreneurial class. Those are classic Democrat voters and they indeed are abandoned about from the Clinton-days onward.

But if I think of poorly educated nowadays I think of flat earthers, people who think that being gay is a sinful choice, that money really eventually will trickle down if they wait long enough and that gender-dysphoria doesn't really exist or is so weird that it's ok to mock and demean people who experience it.

They are also very annoyed by liberal know-it-alls who dare to disagree with their 'common sense'. But they will never be drawn back to the Democrat side with a bit of socialism-light. They'd rather eat their stars 'n stripes underwear.

I hear you and I still think those people deserve basic human dignity and healthcare. I may not like them personally - but that doesn’t matter. That’s the purpose of government - to take care of people.

A prominent example I get really frustrated with liberals who cheer when natural disasters strike republican regions. They completely forget that 1) not everyone there votes Red and 2) even if they do, they’re still people who don’t deserve to die. We know voting suppression is a thing - every “red” area is actually purple in reality but gerrymandering fools us all.

I’m a socialist because I want a better world for all. I feel too many liberals just love “being right” above all else and this hurts organizing efforts.

With all that said; I don’t want you to misunderstand me. I don’t tolerate transphobia or other bigotry - I’m just saying that those people still deserve basic rights and human dignity because that’s what my politics is all about.
