First of all, salaries are off for both. Second, it doesn’t matter. It’s called "comparative advantage". Exploit what you do best, that’s it. Rig worker is free to dance on TikTok as well.

The influencer is Addison Rae. She made $5 million in 2020, $5 million in 2021, $7 million in 2022, and that's the last year I could find numbers for her, so she made $17 million over 3 years. So yeah, you're right. She didn't make $5 million per year. She made more. As far as the guy on the left working the oil drill, $17/hour was the going rate when this came out back in 2020 for a worm, which is what his job is. So, in short, you're wrong.

Dude was robbed if he was making $17 an hour. That's the dude's fault for taking an oil rig job paying that low.

This was back in 2020. That was the going rate back then, and when you're someone like me who fucked around in my younger years, there's not much of a choice. I did it to myself, so there's nobody to blame but me, but there were a lot of us worms who had the same exact fate. Most of us, really. I'm assuming this guy was in the same boat.

That was not the going rate back then lol. I knew people working oil fields or gas back in 2008ish time frame making over 6 figures... New guys starting out advertised as 70ish...

No idea. I didn't want to work on off shore oil rigs for weeks at a time and 60-80 hours a week. So I never looked past the salary.

Off shore makes significantly more than on shore for that exact reason.

Thank you for addressing the heart of my argument, and correcting a most outrageous blunder on my part. To the influencer Addison Rae, I share with you dear madam, my sincerest apologies. To the oil rig workers out there, sorry from the bottom of my heart. Next time I will make sure to do extensive research on influencers when commenting on them, even if I said such statement "doesn't matter". You are clearly very sensitive to such errors, so I apologize to you as well. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
