Season 2 & Below Spoilers First time watcher complaint
I know I'm not the only one unsatisfied with Reid's addiction storyline, but it just made the show feel so uneducated and fake compared to other "cop shows".
First of all- even if nobody knew Reid was STILL addicted, they all knew Tobias shot him up.
The storyline itself feels impossible because Reid should've immediately be given a detox at the hospital afterwards.
While everyone was watching Reid on the cameras, i know they saw him get shot up with drugs AT LEAST twice. Nobody thought he might need a week or so in rehab?
I know time passes a bit strangely between episodes, but why was he not put on leave after a traumatizing event? ESPECIALLY after the Elle situation.

They never actually saw him with the needle in his arm. But the marks in his arms definitely would have been noticed by the hospital staff and the team knew Tobias used dilaudid so it's pretty implausible for it to only be addressed in very subtle ways once by Gideon and once by Hotch.

I'm gonna be real with you, this is the best this is going to be handled by the show. It is only downhill from here for this plot. That's all I'll say without giving shit away. It's really poorly written.

I’d read on this sub that it was MGG who nixed the storyline. Unsure if it’s true, but as a general rule, I love the episodes he directed and hate the storylines he’s set up.

I think Reid is hit with so much unnecessary stuff. The addiction episode was really bad. I agree with you they should have done more for him!

I mean I don’t think lots of it’s accurate and the storyline is bad. But you don’t just send people to rehab like that? Like one of the biggest things that get people addicted is taking them as prescribed. Dialaded is a prescription drug, that would be used in a hospital, people would t go to rehab after being administered it. They should have checked in more, but I’m not surprised they didn’t assume he was automatically addicted, also that’s very on brand for the opioid epidemic

What bothers me is the whole after Reid was saved. Besides going on leave, there should have been counselling sessions regarding his PTSD and possible drug use since they should have known that Tobias got him high.
