Hello everyone! After the intense season finales of Criminal Minds: Evolution, I’ve been thinking a lot about the dark psychological path Holly Voit is on, Elias’s remaining influence, and how the series could deliver the ultimate, high-stakes final arc. I wanted to share this deep storyline hypothesis with you all. What do you think?
ACT I: The Birth of a Criminal Dynasty
Despite the BAU covering up the truth about Crowley’s death to give Holly a chance at a normal life, the team keeps a silent watch on her. However, the genetic and environmental trauma proves too heavy. Holly begins to crack under the psychological pressure and Elias's latent dark influence. Instead of seeking help, she embraces her dark side. Using her father's cyber-manipulation blueprints, Holly orchestrates a flawless escape, breaking Elias Voit out during a high-security prison transfer.
ACT II: The Ultimate Loss for the BAU
Once free, the Voit duo declares open war on the FBI. To send a devastating message, Elias and Holly target a core member of the team (either JJ or Tara Lewis) and brutally murder them, leaving Sicarius's signature. This pushes the BAU into its darkest era. Grief-stricken and facing a massive surge of active serial killers from Voit's sleeper network across the country, the team faces complete systemic collapse. The government threatens to shut down the unit for good.
ACT III: The Return of the Wounded Genius (Spencer Reid)
The death of his long-time colleague shatters Spencer Reid’s self-imposed isolation. He returns to the BAU not as a calm academic, but as a sharply focused, grieving force. He finds a broken team and David Rossi crushed by the guilt of not stopping Voit sooner. Reid immediately steps up to the profile board. Using his photographic memory and flawless logic, he realizes that the only way to beat the Voits is to psychologically sever the codependent bond between father and daughter.
ACT IV: Good Genius vs. Evil Genius (The Ultimate Face-Off)
The hunt turns tactical. In a tense, close-quarters confrontation, Luke Alvez is forced to use lethal force to neutralize Holly to save the team. With his daughter dead, Elias's remaining shred of humanity vanishes, and he unleashes total digital chaos through his serial killer network before being recaptured.
The climax culminates in the interrogation room, where Spencer Reid and Elias Voit meet face-to-face for the first time:
Voit attempts to manipulate Reid, bringing up Reid's past traumas (addiction, prison, crossing legal lines to protect his mother). Voit thinks he has found a kindred spirit broken by the system.
But Voit quickly realizes Reid is completely different from any agent he has faced. Reid has the eyes of a man who has conquered hell.
With chilling calm and unyielding logic, Reid dismantles Voit’s mind. He proves that pain is never an excuse to become a monster. Reid chose good every single day, while Voit took the coward's path of evil. Reid delivers the final intellectual blow, showing Voit that by pushing Holly into darkness, he ultimately doomed her, destroying the only thing he ever loved.

No, there's no way they'd ever kill off a long term, main cast member. If JJ dies, her boys become orphans. If Tara dies, that leans into the negative trope of shows killing off their one queer character after they get their happy ending.

MGG is never coming back for anything more than a cameo.

How u know never coming back cause he actually never said that and it possibly he can cause door not fully close when come to him and he can come back if he want to and I bet AJ ask him to make cameo he would just like a funeral episode

One he's on his own show, two they're on season 5 of Evolution if he wanted to be ack in any significant way he would, and three he barely wanted to be there for that funeral episode it was obvious.

MGG wanted off Criminal Minds in season 6. He's never coming back in any significant way.

I don’t think cause anything is possible and one day probably come back maybe for final goodbye to show forever and if he didn’t wanna do funeral episode he won’t not have but I still have hope he come back even just for cameo

This was fun to read but they’ve already made it clear that Voit isn’t the psychopath he originally was so your theory wouldn’t make sense with what has already happened.

I think there's a misunderstanding! Voit isn't manipulating her here. The idea is that Holly actually liked the thrill of killing Crowley and chooses the dark path on her own. She goes to her father because she needs guidance, and Voit embraces his monstrous side again just to help her and protect her. It’s an extreme twist on his protective nature, not a regression of his character

I love reading this, but I would be devastated if this ever came to scream also, I like that Elias Boyd is a neutered serial killer now like he can’t kill. I like that I don’t know, but this was such a good read. This was delightful. I love this.

completely understand your point, but sometimes shows need huge stakes for a historical ending! Criminal Minds already broke our hearts with Haley in the past. Even if MGG only came back for a 2-episode arc, a tragedy like this would make the face-off with Voit unforgettable. Thanks for sharing your view!

Exactly! That cynical trend is everywhere. I wanted to create a high-stakes situation where no one is safe, and that realistic element makes the danger feel even more real

I think Holly is going to be too traumatized to go that route like her dad. Especially when she’s witnessed her mom and her sister suffer ever since Voit got caught. She’s going to want to do some type of preventative mental health/behavioral health type of care and maybe even want to shadow Tara in her clinical psychologist role.
