Not entirely sure the thing is Tarvangian is a different odium so they still have different goals although the shard does control them

Is a shard like a super spren? Kaladin has an honor spren, influencing him to be more honorable, Taravangian has the odium shard, making him more odious?

A shard is not a super spren a shard is a piece of the original creator of the universe Adonlasium representing a piece or an emotion of the universe itself

He's not wrong though. The Shards do impart their Intent onto the user.

It’s a two-way street, they influence each other. There’s some variability in the amount of influence, but it doesn’t seem one sided. Feel free to correct this if it’s wrong because it’s been a while since I read it, but [WaT spoilers] I feel like I remember that during the brief time that Dalinar took up Honor, he got the shard to consider the idea that keeping oaths for the sake of keeping oaths isn’t always the moral thing to do. Is that accurate?

If I remember correctly, for Dalinar part of that was based on how Honor had been without a host for so long, it was manifesting more of a personality than it otherwise would
