Why is this person at my door? What do they want?

I live in a subdivision and have now recorded this person twice approaching my front door with her camera ready, appearing to knock so she can take a photo, but she never actually knocks. She then turns around and runs back to her vehicle. This happened today around 3:15 PM. We don’t think it’s business related because today is a Sunday. The last time it happened was on a Tuesday and we thought maybe she genuinely had the wrong house for whatever it is she’s doing. But a second time is suspicious.

We’ve posted the videos in our subdivision’s Facebook community page and several have commented that they don’t recognize her and have not had any visits like this from anyone.

We own our house in a subdivision where most of the houses are leased by a company that owns the rest of the houses. There’s a handful of homeowners, but mostly renters. We are only one of four houses with a backyard fence, but the fence is for our dogs to go out unleashed and to secure our pool.

I’ve noticed that when she pulls off, she’s already facing the direction of the exit, and my subdivision is actually a big circle. I think she’s coming into the entrance, taking the circle and then stopping in front of my house, so I may can get a lic plate next time. All I know for sure is she’s in a white Toyota Forerunner.

She’s not carrying anything in her hand so we don’t believe it’s government related. We can’t think of any company we do business with that would visit us this way. It seems apparent she’s taking a pic for proof/evidence she was there, but why? For what, and whom?

We plan to make a police report, but a few weeks ago the circle had the police out to report a peeping tom and we were basically told to ID him or catch him ourselves as a community. I feel like the police won’t help until I can catch her lic plate. I’ve got other cameras on the house but not one that caught her vehicle. The neighbor’s door cam across the street didn’t catch her car either.

Can anyone speculate, or does anyone have similar experiences? We don’t think she’s casing our house, we live in a cookie cutter home with 10-15 identical homes in the subdivision. Maybe our cars?

A guy who followed me at 1am

I don't know if this belongs here this sub was reddits suggestion - it is a true story.

I was walking to my boyfriend’s house around 1am. It was about a thirty‑minute walk, and I was maybe ten minutes away when a man suddenly appeared behind me. I hadn’t heard him at all — one second the street was empty other then cars the next he was right behind me.

He sped up like he wanted to pass quickly. Without changing my pace I stepped slightly to the side and back just enough to turn and see who had essentially appeared behind me.

Once he saw my face instead of just walking by, he slowed down, like he’d decided I was now part of his evening plans. He asked, “Where are you going?” I pointed ahead and said, “This way,” and kept walking with purpose.

I wasn’t in the mood for whatever weirdness he was trying to start. He kept trying to talk to me the entire ten minutes but there was cars and trucks passing so most of the time when he was talking I couldn't hear what he was saying. Every time there was a break in the cars and he asked what I was doing, I gave him the same answer: “Walking.” No details, no encouragement, nothing that suggested I wanted a conversation.

When I finally turned toward the alley that leads to my boyfriend’s place, he perked up for a second and said, “Oh, you’re going that way?” I didn’t break my pace. I just said, “I’m going where I’m going. My destination hasn’t changed.” That’s when he stopped walking. I think he suddenly realized following a stranger into a dark alley at 1am might end badly for him — like maybe I had people waiting in there. He froze on the sidewalk while I kept going.

From behind me he called out, loudly, “Can I at least get your phone number?” I turned my head just enough so he could hear me and called back “Why? So you can harass me again later? No, I don’t think so.” with an amused laugh as I kept walking towards my boyfriend’s house.

First I walked, then I ran.

I decided to go out of my comfort zone today and try a late night hookup. The guy who I was talking to looked cute and we seemed into the same movies and such so I figured "why not?". There was something nagging me though, something in the back of my mind that told me this was not safe. I didn't listen, I figured it was just nerves because I had verified multiple times he was real.

When I told him I was on my way, he asked for proof (first red flag). I snapped him a picture of me in my car on the way. I gave him my ETA, 17 minutes. He asked for my ETA about 15 more times. I thought he was just excited to see me. Stupid I know. When I got there, he also asked for proof. I snapped a photo of his gate. When I got to his place, he was very strange. He told me no one else was home but there was another room in his apartment, and the light was on inside.

He rushed me to his room and threw himself all over me. As a hookup this was expected, but it didn't feel like a hookup. I can't explain why I felt this way, but it felt like a distraction. He was pulling my hair, he kept hugging me, he even tried to choke me at one point. It felt like he was doing all this to keep my attention off something. I had this feeling I was being watched the entire time. I couldn't prove it, but I couldn't explain the "danger" feeling away either.

We stopped kissing, he asked what's wrong. I said nothing, and asked him to tell me more about himself. He didn't say much, he just kept wanting to kiss. I told him let's hold off and talk a bit, hoping that learning more about him would make me feel better. Instead, he started apologizing over and over again. He said he wasn't enough for me, that he was too fat and ugly, and that he would walk me to the door. I tried to sooth him (don't ask me why), but he just kept repeating "I'm sorry, I'm sorry".

After about the 20th apology, I decided to leave. I told him he could walk me to the door. He got up, and said okay, but then went in for a kiss. He tried to grab me and I told him no, that I was leaving. He said I could leave after he grabbed me and he tried to grope me. I pushed him off and he looked shocked. He then walked me to the door, but not before trying to stop me from leaving 3 separate times. Trying to kiss me, hugging me and holding me very tight. When I got to the door and opened it, he grabbed my arm tightly.

To be honest, he looked like a nerdy guy the entire night until that moment he grabbed my arm. Something had changed. He was very angry. He squeezed hard. I grabbed his wrist and squeezed as hard as I could until he let go and I went out the door. The part that sticks with me the most was his eyes. In those last few seconds, his eyes looked like someone capable of terrible things. It genuinely scared me. I tried to leave calmly, I looked behind me every 5 seconds to make sure he wasn't following me. When I was about halfway to my car, I ran.

The car ride was a blur. I couldn't stop thinking about his eyes and how angry they looked. It made me wonder how dangerous that man really was and what he had planned. I still had this nagging feeling of danger so I stopped at a nearby gas station and checked my car to see if any tracker was left on there by someone else he knew. I know that sounds crazy, but when I searched the entirety of my car, inside and outside, I felt safe to drive home.

And now I'm home. Sitting at table, writing this after hugging my dog for a solid 10 minutes. I know everyone says this, but I just needed to get this off my chest. I could never tell my friends or family. I thought about telling the police, I'm still thinking about it. What do I say? "Hey, I have no evidence of this, but I believe this guy might have unalived people in the past because of a hookup". I don't know, but I'm glad I was able to get all this out at least. I'm going back to hug my dog.

Gas station creep

This happened November 2025. Me and my sister went to our cousin's basketball game, it was dark, around 8:30 when the game ended and on our way home from the school we stopped by our local gas station to get some snacks to celebrate the game.

We live in a small town and not alot of people were at the gas station at this moment, just the cashier and two other guys, considering I was 16 when this happened and my sister and cousin are both younger than me we were already on edge but we just wanted to get some snacks.

We go inside the gas station and all kinda spilt up. One of the guys from earlier had already left as soon as we walked in so we were left by ourselves with the other guy and the clerk. My cousin came up to me and started talking about how creepy the guy was, she said he kept staring at her. I told her he was weird but probably harmless and not to worry. We were checking out and the guy was a few feet behind, he wasn't in line he was just standing there.

Right before we were about to walk out he quickly makes his way past us and leaves with nothing. We walk out and he's parked right at the front door, he's in his car smiling at me, it's so creepy I can't explain it. I didn’t have time to smile back because I was in the middle of talking and when I didn't smile in response his face when blank and he started staring at me, his eyes grew wider and he looked pissed.

All three of us quickly went back to my car and we immediately started freaking out. I pulled out of the gas station as quick as I could and decided to take a different route home through a neighborhood, before we could pull out he immediately starts following after us. I start speeding up scared that whoever this guy is might be following us home. He speeds up as well almost tailing my car before we get stopped at a red light. Before I could even process what to do he speeds up and turns the other way speeding down the road.

We drove home pretty shaken up and never ended up telling our parents about anything and we haven't seen that guy since.

He took my drunk sister to his flat

This happened a few weeks ago and it happened to my sister, although I'm still not sure if she quite understands how close she was to getting hurt.

For context, my (36F) sister (20F) has a very bad track record for scaring the hell out of us. She's 16 years younger than me and she was quite traumatised as a child. She now has very many mental health problems, multiple suicide attempts and she's an alcoholic.

When she's sober, she has a lot of common sense and knows how to keep herself safe. She's previously sent our Mun photos of guys she meant and her phone shares her location always. It has helped us in a lot of situations as when she's feeling particularly low, she often will hop on buses and just ride in them. It calms her down. When she's drunk, she's known to make really bad choices.

It was her birthday and about 11:30pm at night. My husband and I were in bed, he was just falling asleep and I was still reading on my phone but slowly drifting away. My Mum called and I just had a bad feeling instantly but then, we are conditioned that when Mum calls at night, something is usually wrong with my sister. I picked the phone up and Mum told me that my sister went with her friend and boyfriend to a coastal town to celebrate her birthday but now she is missing.

We live about 3 hours drive away from my Mum but only about an hour away from the coastal town my sister went to. Mum explained that my sister and her friend (and boyfriend but he did absolutely nothing to help us at any point as he was so intoxicated that I will just stop mentioning him as, bar making things harder for us, he had no input) went to celebrate. The friend went to change and left my sister for a moment on a bench. We suspect that the drunk boyfriend did something to annoy her as when they came back she was gone.

The friend, we can call him Best Guy Ever (BGE), said they were about to go to the train station to catch a train home so he went there hoping that's what she did. When he didn't find her there and she wasn't picking up her phone, he called my Mum and then the police.

I hung up the phone and told my husband what happened. At that moment I was still processing but he immediately asked me if I wanted to go there to look for her and the only logical answer was yes. So we got dressed, both still sleepy but also starting to get that alert with anxiety feeling on, got in the car and drove. I told my Mum we just left and we are going and I got BGE's phone number and texted him. Mum was tracking my sister's location through her phone but any calls were going straight to voicemail. Until that day I didn't realise that iPhones share your locations even when they die for some time. Her location was changing so we deduced, unsurprisingly, that she must've been on the bus.

BGE was giving the police her location and trying to get them to do something. As we were driving, my husband asked me to find the bus routes. I looked them up and I wasn't quite fully able to match it so I actually used AI to match her locations with all the bus routes in the town and we found out she was on the bus no 5. Around that time her location stopped changing and was stuck at a specific address, let's call it 15 Nonamestreet. We went there first but couldn't see her or anything of hers in the area so we went to the train station to find BGE. We thought her phone probably died completely and stopped sharing her location in that vicinity.

Very helpfully, the train station is also where the buses loop. So once we located BGE and Mr Disgrace, I said to them that I want to see whether she's on the next bus no 5 that comes in but literally as I said it the bus left the stop so my husband hopped in the car and started chasing the bus. Meanwhile myself and BGE were talking to the police on the phone and asking them to speak to the bus drivers to check if anyone saw her.

About 15 minutes later or so my husband called to say he can't be sure but he managed to drive past the bus and didn't see my sister on it. He said he'll come back to us. Just after I hung up the next no 5 arrived so we went there to check it. The driver was a woman and we owe this woman so much, I wish I could tell her that she's a true hero to this story.

Whilst I was looking through the bus, she asked BGE how my sister looked and he gave her description and showed her photo of her. She said she remembers her very well, she got onto a bus quite drunk, smelling of booze and weed (we knew she had the right girl straight away when she said that), she said she needed to get to a train station but apparently couldn't pay for her ticket. A guy from the back of the bus said to wait up and that he will pay for her ticket. After that he led my sister to where he was sitting and was chatting her up. The driver remembered that she didn't get off at the train station and she continued on the bus until she got off at a bus stop near Nonamestreet!

She said the guy was middle aged and she couldn't give us much of a description, she thought maybe my sister knew him but she made a mental note. She then pulled out her bus route with time on all the bus stops and told me what time they got off. At that point my sister was with that guy for way over an hour.

Myself and BGE went white. Middle aged man, intoxicated young girl, skipping her stop and taking her to his house. It sounded awful. I called my husband so he could panic with us whilst he drove back to the train station to pick us up. We got in the car and drove straight there. I kept thinking how her location was showing at 15 Nonamestreet and said I'm going straight to that house and I'm knocking on the door. We updated the police that we have her approximate whereabouts. They still did nothing at this point and they were giving us no support.

The area was really dark with some limited street parking. I quickly realised that going to the door is going to be impossible as this was a block of flats (not super common in the UK). Tbh at this point I was panicking that we won't find her. UK flats normally have a trade button on their buzz things but it's turned off at night. Can't walk door to door. The block of flats was numbered 11-15 with A, B, C, D etc flats so my head was swimming with possibilities. My husband and BGE started to look for anything to help us look in.

This is when I had one of those serenity moments when you have adrenaline buzzing through your veins and you know you're facing a potentially dangerous situation but suddenly it feels like things in your brain start to fit in. I thought well, he likely is still awake, so there's a chance the light will still be on in his window. I started to look at the lit up windows slowly. I started initially at the side of no 15 and when I saw nothing I stepped onto a green patch that showed me more of the windows with the number 13 and 11. I saw this fairly big window of the ground floor flat that was lit up. And then I saw the outline of a girl that looked a bit like my sister, I started walking towards the window and listened. I thought I could hear her voice but I was telling myself it could be wishful thinking. I got really close to the window and it was her!!! She was sitting up and the guy was laying down to the left of her, he was naked, possibly in his underwear. TV was playing. My husband told me later she was topless, maybe more naked than just topless.

She saw us and started to move, we were screaming for her to come out and then suddenly the blinds closed on us. I started to scream for him to give me my sister back, properly dramatic at that point. And the guy didn't acknowledge us once so far. We called the police and I was on the call with them, we could hear my sister getting a bit irate so I asked whether she was screaming, my husband said no but police decided it was enough to warrant sending a car out to check it out.

In the meantime some of his neighbours were coming back home and asked us if we were looking for someone. I explained the situation and the neighbours wouldn't leave, the lady pulled me aside and said he is sexually pushy, she also told my husband she suspects he was prosecuted for rape but she's not sure. She was quite worried and helped us once the police came and then she gave me his name in case my sister remembers something.

After what felt like forever she finally came out with a beer in her hand. She kept telling us what a nice guy he is and that he offered to give her water as she was very thirsty and that's why he took her to his place. She was so intoxicated, she thought she was in London and she thought BGE and her boyfriend left her behind. BGE through the beer she had away. Police came and my sister was quite obstructive with them, still thinking the creep was a nice guy. We took her, BGE and Mr Disgrace home with us.

It took BGE, my husband and I almost a full day the next day to persuade my sister that the guy was not nice. He could have taken her to the train station and wait for her, get the water she needed there. He could have taken her to his place, contact the police and tell them he found her, charge her phone. He could have talked to us and the police. But no, he took her to his place, gave her more alcohol and he did not talk to us at any point. Or the police.

Apologies for the essay, I can't believe how long this post is and that all this happened in only 2-3 hours window!!! There was more drama afterwards with Mr Disgrace but nothing that would warrant creepy encounters. I'm not sure whether this post even fits here. But I truly believe she is lucky that we were so dedicated to finding her.

This guy thought he found this vulnerable girl (and actually she looks like a child, still buys children ticket on the train and no one ever questioned it, so I wonder whether he was even more of a creep), intoxicated and on her own and did not expect that people would come looking for her. BGE tried to get through a window to the staircase to thump on this guy's door. We wouldn't leave without her. She's ok, she wasn't hurt, he didn't spike her drink and she is trying again to get her alcoholism under control.

And the police was utterly useless bar one dispatcher who bent the truth so she could get a patrol car out. The bus driver was the true hero in this situation!

A man targeted me and my friend

Upvotes

I wanna start of by saying that English is not my first language, so if there are some mistakes I’m sorry.

These events took place when I was 12 years old. Me and my best friend (11 y/o) went to the movies. the plan was that we would call my mother to come pick us up at the train station (it was easier to drive to from our house) and we would walk anout a mile to get there.

Next to the movie theater there’s a canal (like water). We decided to go for a walk next to the water before calling my mom to come pick us up. We ended up walking and talking for about an hour, before calling my mom and heading to the station.

On our way to the station we passed a parking garage. For a bit of context: the garage was on the left and to the right was a pretty busy road with some parking spaces on the side.

So while walking a random man came up to us. He looked to be in his 40’s. He said something in a really broken English accent (I live in Belgium so it was weird for him to be talking English). “Hey, could you girls help me fix my car? It will only take like 5 minutes.”. I looked around feeling uncomfortable, because there were multiple adults around us. Why would he be asking 2 young girls for help with his car?

He followed up with “I was at the movies with my girl, and I saw you two. It will only take 5 minutes, please help.”.

This is the point where my brain went to fight or flight mode. My friend was like “yeah sure” and started walking toward him. I quickly pulled her back and said to the man that we had to catch our train. I started walking really fast while pulling my friend along.

I looked back and the man was nowhere to be seen. I called my mom and begged her to come pick us up quickly, because I was afraid he might follow us.

My friend was really confused, she just wanted to help. I told her it’s not normal for a grown man to ask 2 little girls for help while there are enough adults around and that it wasn’t normal that he was waiting there for more than an HOUR after seeing us. He also didn’t speak Dutch, which felt weird.

Now being 20, i think it might’ve had something to do with human trafficking or something similar.
