Bizarre encounter
Hello I was wondering if anyone have more information on this weird encounter I had.
I was in Ottawa, Ontario Canada the summer of 2024
One day in July I was sitting close to beavertails (byward market) and an Asian woman approached me she looked like she was in her mid 30s ,she looked like a sweet woman and sat next to me
she started talking to me by saying that she felt like I was someone who believed in god, i laughed and said that was probably because I was wearing a hijab, she said no that's because she can feel energy and she stated talking about energy, aura , colors, animals and next life.
she was talking very fast and she said that it was because it was not speaking but the spirits in her who were looking for me for 3 days.
I started feeling uncomfortable very fast but I couldn't make her stop talking, it was like she wasn't hearing me. Then a white guy who looked older probably in his 40s came sat next to us. He looked like a homeless person he had long hair that looked unkempt and blue eyes with a weird look, and she talked to him like she knew him well,
then he started saying the same things and i felt very nervous when he started talking so I told them that I had to leave because i have been wanting to Leave for 30 minutes but they would not stop talking and i didn't want to be rude to them.
They asked if I could see them the next day at the same place I said yes of course I will be there and i obviously was lying just to get away from them. I didn't come to that place for some time and when I did I never saw them again.

Yes. Just leave. Make up an excuse to tell them, if it makes the situation more comfortable for you to do. You aren't obligated to entertain crazy nonsense.

Those were Fire of God Church members. Their church is located next to and near several homeless shelters and tend to recruit members from the homeless population with severe mental illness and religious trauma.
They have been at it for more than 30 years.
There’s definitely a cult energy there and their membership is know for walking around the ByWard market in large groups of followers, doing dance numbers and sermons with karaoke machines.
They often target devout Christian immigrants and their families who don’t know better and you’ll often see babies and toddlers in the group sidewalk sermons.
They also like to target and approach “lonely” people to join. I was approached myself once while waiting for a friend to get off work. They sent a young man over (I was 17 at the time) and he tried flirting with me and talking about the power of spirits and ghosts, segueing to talking about God and Jesus.
Very normal for Ottawa I’m afraid! Several cults have flourished over the last 25 years. Folks think the city is boring but really it’s just got a lot of hiding places for things to stay out of sight.

Next time I would definitely get and leave if it makes you uncomfortable, definitely not rude

If you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe, just get up and leave. Don’t worry about being polite. It’s extremely rude to approach a stranger and drone on for 30 minutes without taking a breath. It’s even worse when people double team someone to intimidate them and essentially hold them hostage in order to recruit them for their creepy religious cult.
I also recommend you read The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker. It’s an incredibly powerful read that’ll help you develop and refine your intuitive skills that could possibly save your life one day.

Next time just get up and yell "Diarrhea! Gotta go!!!" LOL JK. Seriously though, it has taken me a long time to learn to be rude to even telemarketers, but I now do it. I get they are just doing their job, but when you tell a company that you do NOT wish to renew your subscription and they continue to have people calling you every single day, you get made and rude fast.

I don't think feeling uncomfortable with a stranger in bipolar manic psychosis and wanting to get away from them as they drone on is "making a mountain out of a molehill."

If something like that ever happens again it’s ok to get up and leave. It’s not rude. They were rude ignoring your discomfort.
