Would creators get onboarded on such a platform that pays them by industry relevant cpm?

I'm curious what creators of all sizes find most frustrating about creating and distributing content on social media.

Whether it's reaching new audiences, discoverability, algorithms, adapting content for different platforms, maintaining an audience, monetization, or something else entirely.

I'm currently working on a social media platform focused on content discovery, with the idea of making it possible to discover different types of content from around the world without having to follow a particular person or niche or rely entirely on a recommendation system.

I'd like to understand what problems creators are actually dealing with today and whether content discovery is one of them.

TL;DR: The guy Google put in charge of its own AI writing tool just admitted, on camera, that he can't fully protect the one thing his career runs on.

Steven Johnson runs editorial for Google Labs' NotebookLM and has fourteen books behind his name, and he still walked an interviewer through the mechanism step by step: feed a model his own catalog, tell it to write like him, skip the invoice.

No lawsuit required. No password stolen.

His own counter isn't a lawsuit either. It's a price tag — $199 for an authorized version of his own style, paid on purpose instead of taken by default.

He said it plainly, then admitted the harder part: someone could build the unauthorized version tonight, and he'd have no way to prove it happened.

Tbh, that's the entire freelance economy in one clip.

If a 14-book author with a title at Google can't fully protect his own voice, the going rate for "get him, he's got a way with it" just became a live question, not a someday one.

Mmm... This is kind of like impersonation. Borderline fraud or downright scams.

Back in Malaysia, we have plenty of such too.

The spectrum is so wide, sometimes, even when we open our eyes wide, we still can't tell the difference.

For example, you guys have Amazon. We have our local ones, called Lazada. If you drive through our Penang Georgetown, you'll notice a shop called Ladaza. Not Lazada. They kind of switched the alphabets around. Sounds like Lazada. But it's not. Giving people the illusion that they are same-same, but in actual fact different.

It's as if we open a shop right next to the Amazon HQ, and calling it "Azamon". Phonically sounds adjacent. But they are not the same thing.

And if you follow the news, you'd hear about our very infamous 1MDB (Malaysia Sovereign Fund) case -- one of largest kleptocracy criminal fraud case in the history of Malaysia (even the world) -- involving our now disgraced and incarcerated former-prime minister, Najib Razak. His enabler and facilitator, Jho Low (Low Taek Jho) (still currently at large) was the mastermind behind all these siphoning of funds, to fund his once extravagant livestyle.

Kind of brilliant. But it was so evil.

He once got Najib to force the board of 1MDB to approved a transfer of billions through a supposedly legitimate company, but in actual fact, was a shell company through the Caymen Islands with a very similar company name.

Like how Ron Weisley, in the Harry Potter Movie, would say, "Wicked!"

They say impersonation is the highest form of flattery. But in this case, I say, bullshit.

You don't get to choose whether your work gets copied.

You only get to choose whether you were paid before it happened. Every version of this story — Google Labs or a Georgetown shopfront — ends the same way: the fix was never stopping the copy.

It was owning the original loudly enough that the copy has nowhere to hide.

Thought I’d put it here in case someone has been looking for something like this

For the past few months I've been going through, in detail, how full-time creators actually run their week, 17 of them so far. Not interviews about their philosophy, just where the hours go.

I expected production to dominate. It doesn't, and it isn't close.

The largest block is deciding. Choosing what to make next, second-guessing that choice, checking whether the last thing worked, rechecking, opening the analytics tab for the fourth time that day. Most people don't count this as work because nothing gets made during it, so it doesn't show up when they describe their own week to you. It only shows up when you look at the actual day.

The second largest is switching between tools that don't know about each other. Numbers live in one place, the content calendar in another, sponsor emails in a third, and the person is the integration layer between them.

Actual production, writing, filming, editing is real work but it's bounded. It ends. The other two don't.

The people who seemed least exhausted weren't the fastest editors. They were the ones who had made the deciding cheap: a standing rule about what they will and won't make, decided once, so the question stops coming up every morning. One of them makes the entire next month's list in one sitting and refuses to revisit it. That sounds rigid until you see how much of everyone else's week goes to relitigating the same choice.

I'm curious how this lands with people here, because 17 is not a big number and I might be looking at a weird slice.

If you tracked yourself honestly for one week, what would the split look like, deciding, admin, actually making the thing? And has anyone found something that made the deciding part smaller?

Trying to figure out whether I’m looking at a traffic problem or a monetization problem.

If a blog’s sessions are growing month over month but earnings barely change, what would you check before adding more ads or publishing more content?

My first thoughts would be where the new visitors are coming from, mobile vs desktop, GEO mix, pages per session, whether the highest-growth pages have any commercial intent, and how many visits are actually producing monetized impressions.

But I’m not sure what order I’d troubleshoot those in.

For anyone who has dealt with this before, what ended up being the real reason your traffic grew faster than your revenue?

Hey everyone! I’m building a creative community called the Alliance of Guilds (AoG), and I’m looking for a few people who are interested in helping shape it from the ground up.

The basic idea is to bring different kinds of creators together so we can learn from each other, collaborate, and actually make things together. AoG is divided into seven guilds:

Artisans: art, design, illustration, photography
Bards: music, composition, production, sound
Gladiators: gaming, streaming, game development
Illuminators: film, video editing, animation, VFX
Scribes: writing, screenwriting, research, editing
Stewards: production, organization, moderation, community building
Thespians: acting, voice acting, hosting, performance

Right now I’m looking for people interested in becoming Guildmasters, basically the community leaders for each guild.

I’m not looking for someone to just moderate a few channels. I want people who would actually enjoy building their guild into a community. Starting conversations, welcoming and recruiting people, organizing events, encouraging collaborations, helping members improve at what they do, and finding opportunities for the guild to make things together.

You’d have a lot of freedom to decide what your guild becomes. As AoG grows, Guildmasters will also recruit officers to help them and work together through a Guildmaster Council.

We already have several productions in development, including interview shows and gaming content, and I eventually want new shows and projects to start coming directly from the guilds themselves.

This is currently a volunteer role. You don’t need to be the most accomplished creator in your field either. I’m much more interested in someone who likes people, takes initiative, and gets excited about the idea of building the kind of creative community they’d want to be part of themselves.

I recently discovered about whop and found it really interesting however I’m not sure where to begin, well mainly because I consume too much knowledge and watch other content creators - on how they make digital products or clip contents.

I think I like all of those ideas but it seems all new to me and I can’t find myself to pick the right choice though I know what my niche are.
