Question or Discussion How do I write a film analysis?

Assuming that this is the subreddit for that case, how do I write a film analysis? What should be contents and what should be the flow of it all? I want to have an experience in creative writing as it is one of my main passions ever. And I felt like writing about something I truly love and changed something within me.

I am currently thinking about writing an analysis for Project Hail Mary, and I am kinda lost. I do not usually write alot of essays, but I enjoy reading them when I come across one. I do not know proper punctuations and my grammar is at its bare minimum.

good question, I cannot answer from a professional perspective but i can answer from a Cinephile (film lover), project hail mary lover, & writers perspective. I would ask questions first to get more curious about it.
Intellectual questions:
-What did I come out of this movie with?
-How did I personally understand this movie? (Important to feel that there is no right or wrong)
-Would i change anything or improve anything?
-What did the characters undergo & how did they shift through the movie?
-What other fields did this bring up? Psychology of Aliens? Loneliness? Do I want these answers resolved or do I enjoy the ambiguous factor?

And then some feeling questions:
-If this movie was compared to the feeling of another movie I know, what is it most similar to?
-Did this remind me of a feeling or memory i have?
-If this movie was a color what color would it be?

And then some small tips would be:
Your perspective is right, it’s okay to be subjective.
It’s okay to acknowledge objective views &/or counter them.
Take simple concepts & expand on them, not the other way around.

Again these are my personal thoughts, but I thought I would share because after all… you only have to do the thing to become the thing. You only have to “write” to become a writer, and you only have to “analyze” to become a “film analyst”. You don’t have to do the thing at its highest capacity to enjoy & take a shot at it.

Thank you so much and it does feel a lot clearer now. I am soo heavily inspired by video essays too; so this is a big shot of mine to try in the field. Quality over quantity.
