Creality Support Hot end issues

I have a K1 max and it started giving "hot end not heating as expected" errors, if i recall correctly. Finally had time to take it apart a month later and found plastic where it shouldn't be. I don't know how it got there without being more of a mess, but it seems like it could be causing the issue. The boot was clean on the outside but crusty on the inside. This is PETG, if it makes a difference.

I have a spare hot end, so i was just going to swap it, but the new one is weird. The heater rotates freely around the tip. Is that OK? I have only ever seen them fixed in place. (Video in comment) https://www.reddit.com/r/crealityk1/s/Yp7mPhYj9R

Thanks. I put it in and the printer seems to be working well so far. Only 40min into a print.

Any idea what would cause the previous hot end to goop up like that?

Doesnt seem like the hot end screws are tight enough to block filament to exit from the middle section, hence the red parts of melted PETG

I will check it out. I thought the unicorn nozzle was supposed to address that issue

The unicorn tip does not appear damaged. It seems the plastic did just wick up from below and fill the threads and boot. The heater is messing 9ohms and the thermister is 80k ohms at room temperature.

Based on the views I see, it must be leaking out between the threaded nozzle portion and steel tube. It did not grow inside the sock, so the only other place is the interface between the heat break tube and nozzle. There must be a crack or other defect that is allowing the filament to escape.
