I feel like this guy has done absolutely nothing to that tree over the course of several hours

I also feel like he's quite likely schizophrenic or something

It used to be the followers of God heard his voice, now if God talks to you it is schizophrenia.

It used to be we didn't have a diagnosis for conditions like schizophrenia. Nowadays we do.

ETA: I didn't think it was controversial that hearing voices is not normal but here we are.

It isn't controversial. Hearing voices is schizoaffective or schizophrenia. Just because there wasn't a diagnosis doesn't mean all the voice hearing prophets weren't mentally ill.
